05 dead battery 8000 miles?

Have had the truck for almost a year, doesn't get run much in the summer.

I drove it about 2 weeks ago, and took 5 of the 6 cds out. Went out yesterday morning, figured i would take it to work today and no power, just clicking, dead battery, cd changer making all kinds of noise sounds like it is attempting to find a cd. This happened even with the key out, as i closed the doo it was still doing this, i opened the door about 5 seconds later and still making noise. closed the door and went to get the keys to the caravan.

On my rounds i spoke with a customer who bought an 05 mustang gt, said he had a dead battery and before I mentioned my problem, he told me he thought it something to do with the cd player/changer.

Anyone else with this sort of problem, I had left the truck sit for longer periods of time without any problem, the only difference was this time i took out some of the cds.

i am currently having troubles with the charging system on my 05. i did have the alt. out to install the s/c and maybe something happened to it then, but cant see what. i think my problem is the voltage regulator. does your battery light come on when the truck is running? yours is probably a diff. problem, but i thought id throw it out there

I just had my battery replaced, i think its 3yr/36000mi free replacement, and 10yr/100000mi pro rate. Bad cell, hooked it up on a battery tester at home and she was bad, took the battery in, went home with a new one, put it in and viola.

So, Asinatra, did you read the problem he was having?

Sounds to me like a faulty changer. If it is cycling when the power is off something is wrong. Disconnect it or get it to the dealership for replacement.
Good luck.

Yes and actually i have the mustang MY05 shaker 500 in my truck, my battery failed about a week after i put it in. I tested the battery and it was bad, i have let my truck sit for about a week and no problems. Faulty battery.

No matter what, the CD changer shouldn't be doing anything once the ignition is off. That's the root of the problem. But you may have a bad battery now since the CD changer drained it. You might want to do an impromptu test: Disconnect changer, jump truck (or charge battery) and drive it a while. Let it sit a couple days. If it starts then changer is your problem. If it doesn't start something else is going on.
Of course you may want to just take it in. I try to figure things out before I take the truck in. Seems to cut down on the time I have a rental. Damn rental cars....Good luck.

About two months ago my alternator went bad and fried my battery (the truck had just under 30K miles at the time). The truck was acting really weird and everything went crazy. The lights were flashing, the cd player went on and off, the dash lights all lit up, and the engine was surging.
The dealership said it was defective and caused the battery to go bad. They said they have seen "Many like this."

The CD changer always has power, it allows you to eject cd's after the ignition is turned off. The low power on the battery may have been causing the ticking noise you heard, so it may be the other way around. The CD changer may have nothing to do with it.

My OEM battery went dead in the middle of summer for no apparent reason also, it was within 6mo. from the time I took delivery of the truck new. After investigation I found out the Ford battery is ***** to start with and I didnt want another one even if it was free under warranty. I Replaced it with the Yellow Top Optima unit and have had no more probs since. done deal.

I never go more than 2 years in the Arizona desert with a factory battery. I usually put in a diehard before the factory unit goes bad just to save the trouble later. The underhood temps kill these batteries. And with all of the gadgets on vehicles today, it's alot of load on the charging system and battery. I would rather pay the bucks now and not have the worry later.

I will call the dealer tomorrow, to see if they have any info. I will bring home a jump box and see if i can get the thing fired up. Maybe try it a few days.

on my ford F-150, if I listen to the radio for 15 mim or so with out the engine running, I run down the batt...on the ignition thier is no left acss, some times I have caught my self listiong to the radio and day time running lights ( Canada) on...orginal problem was corected with a reflash, now I suspect something is a miss in the batery run down saver that shuts off power to lights that are left on...as long as I don't have the radio on/engine off, truck starts every time

Came home this evening and tried to start it again, still dead, changer still going nuts. Put the jump box on and it started right up, took it off voltmeter in dash showed good. I let the truck run about 2 minutes, and shut it off and it restarted, I had a few errands to run so I took it. Had a typhoon or something like it blow through the area tonight, which meant Lights, heater, wipers, stereo. No problems, cmae home shut it off and it started up.

Guess I will find out tomorrow morning.

Talked to my dealer today, they knew nothing about anything like this, but said i should keep them informed on how I make out with it.
