Been using the wrong oil!!!
I have had Walmart change my oil since I bought my truck. It has about 12k miles on it. I have assumed they were putting 5w-20 oil in because that is what I told them. I haven't been getting that good of gas mileage with my 4.6 scab since the past few oil changes either. I decided to change it myself yesterday and went and bought the oil. I looked at the sticker they put on the windshield and it had 10w-30. I haven't paid attention to it before. The truck has run fine but I wonder if this could have contributed to the poor gas mileage. I don't know what they put in the time before because I didn't look at the sticker.
next time you are at the wal-mart i'd stop by the service area and note it..talk to the service manager....
their excuse can't be that they don't carry the oil or the weight as wal-mart stocks and sells Mortorcraft 5W-20 oil......

This is a constant problem at Walmart. If you don't watch over them like a hawk, you have no way of knowing what they actually put in.
Two years ago I had them put Mobil 1 synthetic in my Explorer. When I went to pick up the vehicle they had put the half unused quart of regular oil on my seat. I had them drain all of the oil and do it again, while I watched.
This is exactly why I do oil changes myself from now on.

Goofy Lube strikes again! Stay away from places that employ minimum wage morons work on your truck. Dumb stuff like wrong oil, didn't change filter, left the air filter out, are the reasons I change my own oil.

They assume 5w-30 ...
Dont assume ... If you cant change or oil on your own, just state nicely, "This vehicle takes 5w-20"
Enough said.

Yeah, don't call them dumb, those oil filler caps are tough to read.

I even had the dealer only put 5 quarts in during second oil change. I noticed this on the receipt so I checked and sure enough, over a quart low on the dip stick.
So now, I have a few cases of 5w20 oil from w-mart and motorcraft filters ( I stocked up when they were unloading them 6 months ago but they are back now ) and do it myself. Now I know I get a new filter and 7 quarts of oil each oil change and let Pep-Boys have the used oil.
