Question Tuner Rev limiter and shift points optimum settings???

Howdy all. I have the 2004 5.4L s/c F150. I’m attempting to install my Tuner this weekend. It looks like a relatively easy process but I am stuck on the question of “rev limiter” and “shift points”. I did a fairly extensive search in the Forums and the Google but am still puzzled. My basic question is this: What are the best shift points and rev limit for the 04’ F150??? Or should I leave those two settings at the stock level??

My truck has 32” tires and the 3.55 gears. It also has an airaid intake scoop and Magnaflow muffler. I’m not a racer and do not race my truck at the track. Just need a lot more power in the punch. Thanks.

Here are the options:

REV LIMIT SHIFT POINTS

-500 -500
-400 -400 or lower
-300 -300 or lower
-200 -200 or lower
-100 -100 or lower
Stock Stock or lower
+100 +100 or lower
+200 +200 or lower
+300 +300 or lower
+400 +400 or lower
+500 +500 or lower

Which work the best???

Dont change it. Your fine. The only reason to change it is if you got an a dyno and saw were peak power started to drop, add 300rpm and that would be your new shift point.

one / two up-shift ~ 5,250rpm
two / three up-shift ~ 5,250rpm
three / four up-shift ~ 4,900rpm

set the rev limiter 500rpm higher than the shift points

Yes, for the 1st/2nd make sure the rev limit is 300-500 over, else because of the rapid increase in RPMs you might hit the rev limiter, thus losing a shift.

Thanks guys. I "think" I'm beginning to get this concept. The manual also says to keep the rev limits above the shift points. Thinking about it, my truck always shifted great except when I get into the 50-55 mph range (2nd shift I'm guessing?). It always felt like it took too long to shift or that the engine was revving unnecessarily. Most likely I'll do my experiment and keep all the shift points at stock except that one. I'll increase the revs maybe by 100 or 200 and lower the shift point by about 100. The tuner I'm using is the Hypertech and I'll give a review of the results when finished. In fact I'm doing the tuning this morning. Wish me luck!!!! :o

Update:

OK I installed the Tuner program in this morning. I decided to remain at stock except the tires which I put at 32". So far I'm real pleased with the results. I had previously installed an Airaid intake tube and a Magnaflow muffler. The truck ran great most of the time but we have big swings of temperature where I live. It can be 90* during the afternoon and back down to 50* the next morning. Because of the increased air flow the computer would have to relearn the temperature each time and the truck ran a little "ragged" for a short while. I decided to go with the 87 octane program instead of the 93. Hypertech claims +15 hp with the 87 and up to +25 with the 93. The engine now seems far more "in sync" with my other modifications. It runs smooth from turn on and while running. And it seems to get smoother as the computer relearns the new parameters. There is no doubt the truck runs much stronger with all the components a bit closer in unison. I'll probably keep the 87 tune for awhile and then maybe try the 93. I want the best combination of smooth ride with max power. I'll also probably try to make the shifting firmer (another option available). And I might experiment to see if I can tweak a little more power by lowering my shift points slightly and raising the rev limitter. Overall I'm real happy with this mod and I think I can improve on it. First I'll let the computer get comfortable with the new settings.
