I'm curious.. something I haven't seen many people ask around here. My truck was parked next to my manager's 4WD Lariat, and his truck is so much higher then mine. He has an 04 stock 4WD Lariat, I have an 05 stock 2WD lariat..

What gives the 4WD models of our trucks the higher suspension? And can they be swapped into a 2WD?

I.e. my last vehicle was a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the 4WD V8 trims had a 2" higher suspension then the 2WD I6 trims due to longer coils..

What is it in our trucks? Could I buy someone's stock FX4 or Lariat suspension and throw it on my 4X2 truck for a lift?

 

I know that most of the rear height comes from the 2" blocks that are under the leaf spring and longer U-bolts, also the shocks have a longer travel. IDK about the front.

 

Check the classifieds section of this site. I saw a complete FX4 stock suspension for sale there recently.

More info on the 4x4 blocks and U-Bolts? Where does one obtain these?

 

You can get them from someone that is installing a lift or that removes them to level their 4x4. I got mine off of ebay for $30.
