Need 3 TSB #'s and Details Please
Hey everyone trucks finally going in next Thursday, for 3 problems and i would like to be prepared with the TSB's so i dont waste my time with the techs, i need one for the brakes (august 04 build date) severly grooved rotors, steering wheel nipples when applying brakes...and exsessive brake dust/noise, i need another one for the Leaking 3rd brake light (im gonna assume thats th cause) it leaks up front though not in the back, so either the 3rd brake light seal is shot or the sunroof seal, it leaks from the front maplights and then up near the rear view mirror , and also need the rear sliding window rattle/chatter noise....if anyone can post up the TSB's and the details (tech fix sheet) i would extremly appreciate it....i really hope the dealer doesnt **** me around i told him i need the truck that day, and i have to drive to upstate ny just to go to the dealer so ill be a waiter lol, unless they gimme a loaner i wont be leaving the dealership...
WHY DONT YOU CALL YOUR SERVICE ADVISOR AND ASK HIM WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO DO, STATE YOUR CONCERN THAT FORD DOES HAVE TSBS FOR THE ISSUES YOUR VEHICLE HAS
if you want to be prepared talk to the service advisor before hand, duh.

Two of the numbers are as follows:
Break light = 042005A also if head liner spots later it can be coverd under incidental damages
Rear window = 04203 I belive there may be a newer one but it is the one I have printed out
hope this helps.

I was not aware of a TSB for the brakes. I would like to have this # also. I have a June 04 build truck. I always wondered about the dusty a$$ brakes, but blew it off for a while. I just noticed a couple of days ago that I had SEVERLY groovedrotors, but forgot about it till I read this. I also need the numberfor the re-flash for the 3-2 clunk TSB, that fixes the throttle lag.

And why shouldn't he speak with the service advisor because right now he is only jumping through hoopes to get his vehicle fixed, why doesnt he go strait to the source (person responsible for getting his vehicle fixed) and see what information he would like to gather, or if any information is really needed, OR IF they could go through an oasis tsb lookup TOGETHER when his service appt is.
On your behalf i think you should go back to reading how troyer is the best, and believe everything everyone else says except me.
Have a great day!
Let's be civil about this...
I do believe that in general, the public doesn't really have any business with TSB information. It tends to complicate matters with dealership service departments, not help them.
But. Some people get stonewalled by their dealers, with the dealers claiming no problem found or "we've never heard of that" on some fairly common and well known issues. In that case, the TSB text may help matters, because IMO, the dealership isn't upholding their end of the bargain in that they haven't checked all their resources to try to square the customer away. But in the meantime, I also agree with asinatra in that you should try talking to your service advisor or manager, not trying to go to war with them because you've got a fi****l of TSBs in your hand. I've been on both sides of the fence, as a customer and as a dealership employee, so I can understand how frustrating it can be at times to try to get your vehicle fixed. Once you've exhausted "normal" means, then the TSB text itself may come into play.
After sifting through a lot of different posts and E-mails, I'm beginning to wonder what is the TSB information that I've provided to different members really being used for: To address complaints that the dealer has been lackdaisical about, or to use as leverage against a dealer that may (or may not) deserve it.

ok lol this was no help lol, the only reason i wanted them was because rather then the tech having to diagnose everything and then find a TSB , i give him a tsb, show him that the symptoms match the tsb, and then he can fix it as per the tsb, saving me and him a lot of time....oh well, ill probably be up there all day anyway....
The problem with TSBs though, is when you get past all the procedural crap, they're really educated SWAGs that engineering *thinks* might fix your problem. A lot of TSBs are revised several times a year because engineering says, "Wait, that wasn't it, let's try this..."
They also tend to induce tunnel vision in the technician, at least I know it has with me. Yes, TSBs can be helpful, but they can also hinder matters. They can have technicians running off doing repairs that the vehicle doesn't really need, and/or worst yet, repairs that won't fix the vehicle's condition. Yes, they do help, but unfortunately often times [technicians] are better off going about the normal diagnostic process. It's the little things that kill, and those little things can be missed if someone goes stomping off in some crazy *** direction that a TSB indicates. The biggest aid a TSB really offers is upgraded part numbers (if applicable).
But if you really want 'em, give me a few minutes.

I do agree with Quintin a little that the general public has very little need with TSB #'s, as I work at a NAPA, and uninformed people come at you all the time with jibba jabba that they get off of some bootleg website about who knows what, and you cant convince someone that doesn't have a clue what they are talking about, any diffrent.
BUT
I do think that we should know when a TSB has been released that would affect our particular vehical, and the dealer should uphold there end of the deal. Just like the brake deal. I had no Idea that my rotors were so sevearly grooved untill I read this post. I would have ended up paying my shop a bunch of money to relpace pads and rotors, that SHOULD be covered under warranty, if there was a flaw from the factory. We pay way too much money for our trucks today to have to spend another $500 on a brake job when it was the factorys fault for putting sub-standard pads on it to begin with.
that said, I still love my truck!!

I just took my truck into the service dept to get my power windows fixed and have the clunck fixed and the service advisor had a list of tsb with the paper work. Well, most of them I tried to get my computer reflashed but he couldn't find the tsb on it, he actually came out and talk to me with the book of receant tsb's from ford and WE couldn't find the one for reflashing the computer. I read other places on this board that it is 05-12-10, but that tsb is for some car not a F-150. The service advisor showed me the book of tsb's so that I could see for myself.
im startin to think that my leak is not due to the 3rd brake light, i was washin my truck yesterday an when dryin it i noticed the seal on top of the windshield right in the middle is sittin differently then the rest of the seal, so that right there could be whats causing the leak (an thats pretty much where the leaks coming from) but other then that the brakes an rear window are simple things and shouldnt be hard fixes, all 4 of my rotors are grooved badly....so im gonna assume im in for 4 new rotors/pads all around which would be good, i aint payin **** though cause the brakes have been crap since day 2
