Do you have pics?

I've searched and searched but have yet to find the Volant on a 5.4 3V '04 or greater. I'm curious what it looks like installed.

I had Volant on my F150 2000 Lariat Scab and fit and finish were impeccable. Performance gains were formidable and it looked a million $$$'s. I was sold after this.

I'm just curious to see how it'd look under my '05 Lariat Screw. I know the two engine compartments are totally different in appearence.

Also . . .

I read on a past Troyer post that the Volant was causing the engine to "run lean." Has this since been recified by Volant? I really want to purchase the Volant but not under these conditions. I'm not a fan of the flashy one's like Airaid, K&N 77 series, AF1 and whatnot. I've always enjoyed the "stealth" look under the hood.

grubrunner do a search on Volants alot of very happy people have them . Dont remember a member saying they had a lean run, but do remember the airraids and some af1's mentioning that . As long as supplier gets the bug out thats the main thing .

I'll try and find the thread where Troy said the Volant (among others) was making the engines run lean. I'm just wondering whether this problem has been addressed by Volant.

Thanks.

grub there are threads on all the air intakes from lean burn . All have been corrected by this time hopefully. My opinion is i would put a Volant on mine when im ready. It is a true Cold Air Intake bringing air in from the outside of the engine compartment . Not with a seal against the hood in side the engine compartment.

TP said that about Volant a long time ago, early 04 when just about all the aftermarket intakes were running the 3-valve engines lean. The only one back then that supposedly worked properly was Airaid. Since then, all those aftermarket CAI companies work their way through different tube designs to get it right; they did their R&D on the consumer not the test track

Running lean is in reference to the air fuel ratio. In Closed Loop, the PCM is using the feedback from the oxygen sensors to constantly adjust the air fuel ratio to a 14.64:1 A/F ratio. Open Loop is when the engine makes its real power. In this mode, the PCM ignores the feedback from the oxygen sensors and no longer forces the engine to run a 14.64:1 A/F ratio, instead it uses the signal coming in from the MAF meter or MAS to determine how much fuel and timing to put into the engine, based on hand-coded values in lookup tables. Some aftermarket intakes could force the engine to run dangerously lean in Open Loop

To much air not enough gas = running lean
To much gas not enough air = running rich

Okay folks.

Looks like nobody wants to show off their Volant CAI so I did some searching on the WWW and came up with the pics below.
