Engine stall TSB

I did a search and came up with nothing but everyone getting the PMC flashed. Does anyone know if there is a TSB on the engine stalling out?

The only TSBs I've found that addresses an engine no-start condition require a PCM reflash.

Just curious: did this situation happen to you? If it did, please provide some details. My truck is currently in the shop for the no start problem (and the driveline clunk), but the dealer is saying they are unable to duplicate. I'm trying to determine if there is a common thread between the trucks that experience this problem (e.g., temperature, driving conditions, etc.). Thanks!

Well its starts just fine all the time it just that about 2 times a week. I will be starting the truck up let it sit for a min or two and start driving and within the first 10 min it will just stall out and die. Its happens in all types of weather but its only when I first start up the truck in the morning or when the truck has been sitting for about 8 hours. everytime it happen its when I am at a stop light or backing out my driveway. It fells like I am driving a standard, when I take my foot off the brake at a light and let it idle forward the RPM drop and the truck dies. I have a appt. this week to have it looked at but they wont be able to duplicate it since I have to drive 30 miles to the dealer.

My 4.6 used to stall once in a while, i would pull up to a red light and the idle would slowly drop to the point where the truck would eventually die, then i would pull the key out of the ignition and restart it and everything would be fine. Took it in and they could not find anything (my truck has been reflashed along time ago) so that was not the solution. I did quit using Arco gas (cheapest around here) that seemed to help. Although makes no sence since i run it in the wifes '04 Explorer with no problems.

I wish I could be more help, but it sounds as if we're experiencing different problems. I also don't recall anyone else posting an engine stall problem with a 2004+ 5.4L truck (although anaheim's suggestion to try a different brand of gas is a good one). I hope the dealer is able to help you out, and be sure to post what the dealer found and how the issue was fixed.

Good luck!

My 04' 5.4L would stall, rough idle, surge in all weather conditions, temeratures, etc. Took two trips to the dealer to fix. First time they found a vacuum leak and dirty spark plugs? That fixed it for about a week, then it started stalling at stop signs, red lights again. The second trip to the dealer they found a faulty throttle positioning sensor. I have had no more problems since. Give em' a chance and they'll find the problem. I have NOT had a reflash since last July 04' the truck runs great and I am overall very happy with it.

just got it back from the dealer and they Flashed it and wow I saw a big diff. in driving it even with the tuner. but I think I got hosed they never put a sticker saying they flashed the PCM and when I asked about it they said they didn't have to since the computer should show that it was flashed. should I go back and try to get one or just wait?
