Mirrors... which way should I go?
Mirrors... which way should I go?
I'm debating whether or not to paint my mirrors, or purchase these mirrors instead.
First question is, what is entailed with installing these, is it fairly simple, or a pain in the butt? The reason I ask is I will occassionally need to replace these with the stock mirrors when I am towing either my trailer or boat. Which brings me back to just getting the stock mirrors painted and keeping it all simple. The price of painting vs. buying these is probably going to be about the same I'm guessing.
Which way would you go?

I echo that, way too small. Looks like the mirrors off a Honda civic. The work to install those would be the same has having your mirrors painted. Take both mirrors off and put them back on after they're painted. You've got a great looking truck. Please don't ruin it by putting on those mirrors. Paint yours, you'll like them a 1000 times better.
Sound, I didn't see anything on my e-mail. Give it a go again at arcticbowman@hotmail.com
I saw these at first in the Moss Motors catalog, they had a picture of these on a 2004 red F150 and they looked as if they were too small, but really didn't look too bad. I've been back and forth on these since I ordered my truck. I can't find a picture of that F-150 online at all.
I think for ease of use, I should just paint the ones I have now, that way I won't have to fart around with them when I have to tow something. After seeing F150 Duke's truck with the painted mirrors, it gave me the itch to get them done.

Keep the mirrors you have. Those others are just to small and car looking.
Here is a little shot of red to get you going, but I am sure you want the whole thing painted. I did just the tops of mine to make it look factory since thats the way the 06 chrome mirror caps are.

04Red, I think you're right. I'd also like to do the vent visors like you did. I think with the flares, stock mirrors and visors painted red, it would clean up the sides real well.
Thanks for all ya'lls input.

If you do any kind of towing, there's only one mirror to get:

They come in manual for the XL and STX (4L3Z-17696-BA), electric for the XLT/FX4 ((4L3Z-17696-CA), electric with heated glass and turn signals for the Lariat with a black, paintable cover (4L3Z-17696-DB), as well as with a chrome cover (4L3Z-17696-DA). These are new for the '06's, as a genuine Ford accessory, and I bet they work a lot better than having to constantly switch mirrors every time you tow. They are telescopic like the ones on the F250/F350 by the way.
