Autospring Spacer is Causing Problems... Please Help!

Hey guys, I've had my 2.5" autospring installed on my 04 Supercab 4X4 FX4 for about 5 months now. At first, it rode a little stiffer and didn't make much noise. Now, the front suspension kinda rattles when I go over a bump, and there is binding sometimes, causing the spring to rub on the outside.

When the spring rubs, it is very loud and sounds like a loud thud. What is wrong here, and do other people get this problem? I had a dealership look at the front suspension, and nothing is loose.

I'm ready to take off the spacer and save for a real lift! This is pissing me off!

Take it off, and save up for a full suspension lift. You will not be dissapointed with a suspension lift if you get one.

If you want a cheap fix for now... you could go down to a 2" or 1.5" autospring. I think the suspension will only bottom out with the 2.5". Another option would be to fabricate a limiting strap that keeps the suspension from bottoming out. Either would be pretty cheap and should solve the problems.

Here is your fix.

Its going to happen with the 2" or the 2.5" leveling kit.

Take it off... period. Also, your tires look toed outward. Of course, also make sure everything is tight down there if you can't get the spacers out right away. Seriously, man... this is a no brainer.

It seems that some have had issues with these spacers and some have not.
I must be one of the lucky ones as I have no issues and have had them in for over 22,000 miles now...

I recently spoke to Kevin at AutoSpring about some of these issues. He stated that they have recently changed the design of the autospring to not have the rubbing issues. You may want to call them to get the newer design. I haven's installed mine yet, probably this weekend, I got the 2".

Does the Skyjacker 3" come under the suspension lift? I really like the looks and price of the 3" lift.

I have the AS 2.5" spacers on mine and have minor contact with the spring on full extension. It's just enough to hit the paint but not do any damage to the spring. I have no idea if it is the new AS design or not, I just bought it about a month ago. I take my truck off road 4-5 times a week for about 5 miles of washboards, whoops, and ruts, so the suspension gets flexed. I don't go fast on these roads, but the suspension is flexed up a bit. Any lift that just includes spacers or new coils without new spindles will have a similar issue on suspension droop. Larger lifts usually include spindles and drop brackets to keep the A-arms at stock angles.

No, you'll still have the problem with the Skyjacker 3" and probally worse than any other.

Does this problem apply to Daystar as well. Seems like only the autospring guys are having the problem.
