Um..am I the only one that thinks posting step by step instructions to steal our trucks is just about the stupidest thing possible? Can we please get that part of the post removed? We don't need to make it any easier than it already is.

Google can be good...unless you post crap like that.

I'd agree with that, except that who needs step by step directions to pitch a brick through the driver's window?

unlock your doors...amd some thief will throw a brick threw the window...lock your doors and the same thief will trow a rock threw the window...Most thiefs are crack heads going for change...Professional thiefs are more selective...you can't stand gaurd 24 7...my main fear is a dumb *** down on life slashing my tires or keying my truck. I'm insured.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

While I am keenly aware that my truck COULD get stolen or broke into here in my lovely little bassackards hick town on the plains, I do like living in a town where that happens so infrequently that many people (NOT ME) leave their keys in the ignition all the time.

I don't miss Denver. I miss Sam's, Lowes, and good restaurants, but not traffic, crack heads, crack hoes, and high crime rates.

Well, time for the Andy Griffith show now.

This isn't my opinion, it's just the law, but if you are going to rig something up so that you can kill or injure someone when they try to steal your vehicle, you are going to want to stash the body if there is any hope in avoiding manslaughter charges. Some states might let you get away with it if you post some kind of clearly visible notice that says, "Caution: Vehcile must be started with correct key to avoid electrocution". But all states generally value life - even a thief's - over a truck. Be careful.

As far as that rigged up gun - forget it. There isn't anything you are going to be able to do to avoid liability for injuries caused by that thing. I mean, you could really only get a good shot off if the thief was still outside the vehicle. I'll try to condense the general premise of my post:

The general legal view in the United States is that life is more important than personal property.

Anyhow, I have insurance. I don't lose sleep over losing my truck.

[QUOTE=CMS]I just bought my first F-150 Supercrew and I love it, unfortunatley if I knew how succeptable it was to theft I would have purchased an alarm as soon as I drove it off the lot. Yes, my new truck was just broken into...if you wedge a screwdriver between the bottom of the handle guard and the door panel on the passenger side and lift, the plastic handle guard will easily break and you have a full view of the door latch assembly...just lift the connector rod to the door latch and your in. That's how my thief did it. If you ask me Ford has made a big mistake by putting plastic on the handle guards. I think if they just riveted a metal plate behind the plastic piece it would fix the problem.....thats what I am going to do.[/QUOTE

if they did that what is stopping them from just greak the window?

I saw a product on TV once that would BBQ a potential thief. Had nozzles around the bottom of the vehicle that would ignite some sort of gas when it was triggered... that's what you need.

I'm with some of the other guys. I've had 2 trucks broken into by popping the latch on the rear slider. It sucks... but where there's a will there's a way. Whether it's through a door handle or a window.

After the second break in I had an alarm with a hair trigger shock sensor installed... then I was up all hours of the night everytime a gust of wind blew or a cat ( death to all cats) jumped on my truck.

Been broken into several times, can't hardly describe that sick feeling you get when you realize you've been violated. LOVE KingVinnie's "systems"

Sorry to hear about the break in. Thats why I keep my truck stock, no fancy radio installed . . although I would love to put one in. I'm thinking you didn't have the XM radio hidden.

An alarm helps, but that doesn't do much either, unless you live right above/next to it at home.
