You can order them from Ford. However most people suggest getting aftermarket. I ordered mine for the Lariat when it didn't come with them. They weren't expensive and did the job.

If going the aftermarket route, make sure your get one with the oil drain holes that match the factory skid plate. If you don't, you will hate yourself when it's time to change that dino juice... But I can't recommend the factory skid plate, because it is pretty thin. It works in most everyday situations, though, whatever that means...

Mine is the factory. I figured it was thick enough (granted I aint no off-road expert). I put the truck through a pretty rough trail (IMO) with some hard drops and they worked great.

I'm sure you are right though.

I have a front skid plate sitting in my garage, if you have any business over in Arkansas, come get it for the low low price of free. It's Ford OEM.

I am just trying to say that relative to aftermarket skid plates, the factory one is pretty thin (1/8"). Most if not all aftermarket skid plates are 1/4" and up. You get twice the metal with aftermarket skid plates (and presummably greater than the twice the strength). If you are a serious offroader, go after market and relocate the oil filter. Otherwise, get the factory skid plate and be done with it...

I know this is CRSTFR's thread but If he's not interested, I would be more than happy to pay for shipping to Tulsa. I have an XLT,, Don't have any idea why they would put the skid plates on them..

I do have a paypal account.
Last time I tried to ship it, the UPS store wanted $50. I said forget it. Is there a better (cheaper) alternative for shipping. I'd love to get it out of my way. I DO NOT have the mounting hardware, just the plate itself.

Check with Greyhound bus lines. I had a bed extender shipped thru them and it was cheap and pretty fast. May be worth a phone call...
