well, ive been worried about gas since this hurricane deal. my truck usually gets a steady low 11's mpg. i babied it like a grandma for 3 tanks-- 11.2 mpg average. that was boring as hell. so last time i filled up, i decided to see what would happen if i drove it hard. so for the whole tank i was WOT at every chance. driving how a 17 yo should, it was fun. the shocker was when i filled up today. 12.5 mpg!! why would my truck do this? im doing it again this tank to verify my results. also, would it harm my truck to do this all the time?

 

I have really really give my truck hell since day one. Every time I get in it you better know its going to be spinning and wide open at some point.

 

I noticed that the other day too. Ever since I put the lift with 35's I have been babying it to get better mileage keeping the rpm's under 2000 during accel. and i was only getting around 11.6, I then started driving it kinda fast but nothing crazy and my mpg jump to 13.5 and the last few tanks of gas have been with the same results.

I GUESS THESE TRUCKS LIKE TO BE RIDEN HARD AND PUT AWAY WET!!
