Be careful if you power wash your badges

i was wiping down my truck this weekend and noticed some of the black paint or whatever they use on the badges was missing. the paint for the dash (-) in the F-150 was gone. it was the first time i used a power sprayer on it at the car wash and only noticed it after that. i should have known better, but it's only 2 months old and didn't figure i'd have that trouble already. something for ya's to watch out for.

I have read other posts that the paint came off from just hand washing it as well.

Funny. I just had my oil changed in mine and ford washes the vehicle...well i noticed the paint coming off the one badge. Just stopped in and they ordered a new one. Sounds like its a common thing.

These badges look slick with no paint on them at all. Maybe you should just go for that look, since you are already part of the way there!!!

Question

Not to hijack this thread, but where are your billet badge pics Crstfr? I have one on order right now ... going to balance the tailgate with it.

Hmm, I've pressure washed mine a ton and they seem to be holding up fine.

Blasted mine about ten twenty times with my own pressure washer, checked them tonight, they look fine. Will keep that in mind though.

hopefully it's just a few of us

i'll check into the billet badges, thanks for the idea. i never thought about what they'd look like without the paint. i'm looking at door and tailgate handle handle replacements and may as well do it all at once.

My 2 week old truck got sandblasted by Katrina and the effect is the same though my badging is free and clear of any black coloring now.
