Question Question...Ebay: OEM Bright Tubular Running Boards

Hey guys, I am selling my factory running boards on E-bay, but now I am second guessing my description.

Are these running boards really stainless steel? Because everywhere I look (including the sale sticker and Ford website) it just says "Bright Polished Tubular Running Boards." I would think it would be beneficial to advertise them as SS, but no one has done so.

Item number: 8003758669

Let me know if anyone really knows what these are made out of. I have them listed as SS, but might change it.

I think your pictures portray your item well enough that people know what they are bidding on. I doubt anyone will want to send them back based on the fact that they may not be stainless steel.

The stock, factory "polished tube steps" are polished, then clear coated aluminum. At least that's what's on my truck. See my gallery. They are not stainless steel.

Well it seems the consensus here is that they are aluminum. However, after much researching online, this is the only thing I could find.

http://www.autoweb.com/content/resea...Action/Options

Under exterior, it says:

Polished Stainless Steel Tubular Running Boards - Invoice: $291 / MSRP: $350

Which is the exact same invoice and MSRP price I paid. You think Ford would give a little more detail on them. I just wish I didn't pack them up in the box so soon. Won't a magnet stick to SS and not aluminium? Anyway, I agree with you Irhogfan. I think the pictures are descriptive enough.

And no TXF150, I am not trying to advertise my e-bay listing here. As an appology to the F150online forum I'll give any member 5% off.

Thanks for your help and responses!

Glad I was monitoring the forums today. I have been looking for these running boards for sometime now. Unfortunately Ford has yet to offer them as aftermarket equipment. RW, i did put in a bid on Ebay so I hope it works and soon u will be sending them to me.

if they are OEM, there is only one style of metal tubulars from the factory. Whether they are chrome one year and aluminum the next.

So just call them "2004 tubular metal running boards" or somethng similar (or whatever year they are)

I think anyone bidding on them knows exactly what they are.

A magnet will not stick to 304 stainless. I don't know about cheaper grades.
