3" Skyjacker with 285/70/17's

Hello Everyone

I have an 04 Scab FX4 and i was thinking of going with the skyjacker kit and running 285/70/17's with some aftermarket wheels. I was wondering if any of you think this size of tire is too small. I dont want a wide tire, because they seem to push snow instead of plow through it. Any comments would be great
Thanks

Not with different wheels they arn't. I'd say 33s and the 3" Skyjacker would look fine and if you could fit 35s than do it!

That's pretty much the same size as the stock tires. A 3" lift with stock tires would look pretty silly IMO, but that's just my opinion. It's your truck. If you want a skinny tire, that's fine, but atleast get a bigger diameter.

I believe the Truxxx website has a three inch level kit and 285's which is a 33 inch tire, even a 325/60/18 is only a half an inch larger...correct?

yes both are considered 33's with the 285/70 actually being a 32 1/2 inch diameter. the 325/60/18's are equal to a 33/13.50 tire. personally i would run 35's with the 3 inch skyjacker but 33's would look fine. i am running 33/12.50's with the daystar 2.5 inch leveling kit and could fit 35's( depending on the wheels offset and width of the tire ) with no trimming. i beleive the gallery has several pictures of the skyjacker and 33's. sorry for the long wind good luck

I have got a 2 inch leveling kit and 285/70/17 MT/R's by Goodyear. They also make a 305/70/17 which is a little bit bigger and wider. I would go for a bigger tire.. they even look a little small on my truck.

hey black2004fx4

your truck looks shiny did you wax it? if so what kind of wax did you use?

back to the topic.. I just have the leveling kit and running 33x12.5 pro comps on 17x10 inch rims. if your going to get the 3 inch lift go 35's or close to it. not sure how wide your going to go or if your going to use stock rims. just my 2 cents

I agree with OMC. If you're going through the trouble and $$$ for a 3", go 35's. My SC is stock and I have 33's with tons of room! So, leave it be and get 33's (285's) or reach for the sky!

All i know is that is what skyjacker recommends is a 33" tire. Also a 285 is the skinniest you can go without going to a 12.50.
