Talking Bilstein 5100s are in

These are a huge improvement over the stock shocks. The ride is much more controlled.

Bilstein's sometimes have special instructions on mounting. Did they specify that the piston be in the down position instead of upwards like the stock shocks?

WRONG. The shocks are installed in the correct orientation. Maybe you should take another look at yours.

im not sure if bilstein paid that much attention to detail but dont you think if he mounted them upside down that the "Bilstein" lettering would be upside down? just a thought........and i dont think they make 5100's for the front but if they do id like to know about them

I'd have to agree. They appear to be in the exact same orientation as the stockers.

One other thing. You might want to check the attachment of the boot to the shock body. There's generally a zip tie provided to keep it sealed to the shock body. That part of the install might be incorrect. Note the loose fit of the top of the boot - which will allow junk to get in there and wear the piston.

Let me clarify. There is NOTHING incorrect about the installation of these shocks. This is NOT my first time replacing shocks or modifying the suspension of my vehicles.
