I love this truck but if you guys are right about the peak being at 5,000 RPMs then that sucks cause all the other competiters peaks are all higher than that, which means if the after market world gets better for them like it is for us now, then we are doomed.
Having the horsepower peak at 5000RPM is NOT a bad thing. You have to remember that you bought a truck, not a high-revving car. Good truck engines make their torque and hp at LOW RPMs.

Yeah.. but not if they have an '03 (hemi to be exact) found this on a website..
"Kenne Bell will not offer a supercharger kit for the '03 Hemi. In our opinion, the '03 ECM prohibits the use of any supercharger kit - at least to Kenne Bell standards. We are, however, working hard on the '04 Hemi trucks. If we are successful, then we will look at the Magnum, Durango and the 300"

Hey Chris Adams

Thanks for the post, I was lacking knowledge it that area and it made everything clear, and it will take part in helping me with future upgrades.

This is all very interesting and educating, and i am glad someone brought it up as i was wondering the same thing regarding peak horsies @ what RPM's.
W/out calling Troyer performance i dont *know* that shifting @ 51-5200rpm's is the best for say 1/4 mile times, but if it wasn't why would he tune our trucks to shift there? Common sense tells me he's suckin all out of these engines he can with the xcals shift point @51-5200.

Now, what about the tranny, my shift with the xcal tuned by Troyer feels pretty harsh at WOT, and @ 3/4 floored sometimes really kicks into 2nd hard. Anyone experience this before i call and ask...it's bugged me since day 1 because i dont know crap about tranny's. I thought the firm shifts were ONLY supposed to be @ WOT, but maybe not. For all i know the harsh feeling shift may be just that, only harsh feeling, but not harsh on the tranny. I dont know. but id like to.

I read something a while back from mike troyer saying that the weakest link in our trucks is the torque converter which is rated to 5500 rpm's...at least i think it was mike, but can't attach his name for sure
