Got a CEL, now what?

My CEL came on yesterday. I took the truck to Autozone to have the codes pulled, and their reader couldn't connect to my truck's computer. They said their reader was working fine, so they think my computer may be bad. Haven't taken it to Ford yet cause the dealer is kind of far away. The truck seems to be running normally, no changes in performance or anything... Any idea what could be wrong?

Plenty of code readers wont work on the late model F150's due to the new CAN protocall, CAN stands for controller area network some scanners require a adapter to work on can systems, Auto Enginuity has a reasonable cost pc based scanner with can capability they also have pocket pc and palm based software. I dont think your computer is bad you just need some one with the right equiptment to read the codes
