Just so you guys know, the stock shocks are too short. They aren't too short to hook up, but they will top out over larger bumps, such as railroad tracks. You will only have about 1" of downtravel left in the axle with the stock shocks.

Plan on ordering some longer shocks at the same time.

HWM, yeah, I already mentioned that on a couple other posts but never started a thread about it. I have the 4x4 blocks on my 4x2 and over speedbumps and bumps while turning I'll get the occasional topout of the rear shocks; clank, clank.

A good idea for those looking to remove their blocks and 4WD U-Bolts and swap for someones 2WD U-Bolts would be to also swap the rear shocks as well. That way everything is proper. Of course this is for those folks wanting to drop the rear and level out with the front. To raise the front to level out with the rear, a quality spacer lift is the way to go. Front shocks should be ok with a front spacer lift, but would be best to find out from someone who has done it.

Hey Bill, no I didn't. I still have the 4WD rear shocks. Seem to be ok, can't tell much of a difference.

The stock front shocks are fine with an Autospring type spacer lift since all your doing if moving the coil seat down. It will not affect shock travel.

I'll be ordering Bilsteins soon, but just have to decide on which ones. I'm probably gonna go with 5100s rather than the standard replacements since the body of the 5100s is silver, not yellow.

FYI, my dealer said the set of four (4) 4X4 shocks would run me about $48 each before tax. But, I'm not going to make this move right now. For those who are interested, there's a set of take-offs on ebay with an $85 starting bid.

You mean I might be able to sell my stock fx4 shocks. If I was gonna be in there anyway, bilstein all the way. Gotta love ebay.
