Pie Aux Problem And Fix
Hey Guys and Gals.
I installed two PIE FRD04-AUX boxes today, I ran into problems on both.
The good news is that the problem was an easy fix.
I take no responsiblity if you screw up your car/truck.. but this is what I did at PIE's direction.
The problem came the same way with both, it was fixed by a quick phone call to PIE and their GURU had me operating in about 30 seconds.
The problem was following the directions, ironically - I was told that this will not happen every time but it does happen.. and for me it happened two out of two installs. I was told that future instructions will be included to give these directions as below.
I installed the adapter in an 05 mustang and my 05 F150. Thank god I have the F150 there is next to no space in the mustang...
I will try to put this into simple words...
I followed the directions step by step ~!
Turned on the radio and "NO AUX INPUT"
Checked the power/ground etc.. Not the problem~!
Called Tech support.. they said...
"Occasionally the adapter will not be recognized"
He walked me through the remedy and it is simple and took 30 sec..
1.Turn the Radio/Car off.
2.Leave the PIE box and everything else connected to the radio.
3.Dissconnect the wires from the factory harness that plug into the Pie harness <--LINK
4. Turn On the Radio
5. Wait 10 sec.
6. Push Aux Button
7. DVD/CD + (little headphones) appear then suddenly it says PIE.
8. While Radio is ON. Plug in the plug that you removed in step 3.
9. wait.. wait... wait... (3 to 5 seconds) Turn Radio/Car off..
10. Turn back on and Enjoy. If there is a problem with the radio recognizing then repeat steps or call customer service for yourself.
I also picked up my 1/8" jack to RCA cable with the Angle head at Radio SMack for 6 bucks today. no need to spend 19.99 at Best Buy or online.
for those freaking out about your IPOD. you can use this..

If SOMEONE were to want one of these interface thingy's (cheap), they should look in the classified section of this wonderous website
MODS: (if this crosses the line sorry, I got two of these at the original cheap price from some website that was selling them and I was trying to pass the savings onto someone I know would appreciate it.)

Thanks KP, BTW which light blue wire (blue/white or blue/orange?) from the cigar lighter is the constant. Too lazy to go and find my multimeter. Any pix? Thanks.
I'll be installing tomorrow morning and posting pix afterwards.

Fortunately mine went in flawless... worked out of box and with the audio out adjustments on my Sirius head and the input of the PIE AUX adapter I was able to balance the input to sound better IMHO than the CD does. Get better bass response at lower volumes...
Very good investment and works.. If your on the fence on this product do it...

Get it right before you make statements such as yours.

Just to let you all know.. the problems I stated above came back on one of my PIE converter boxes.. So now I have to rip into the dash again until this is sorted out.
Sooo pissed. I am glad that some of you have flawless installs.
FreddyTran, I dont' remember off the top of my head, but I'll try to remember to look today.
