It fell off.....

Well, I've been having some trouble with my tilt steering adjustment handle lately. Today it fell off when I tried to raise the wheel back up so I could get out. Fortunately I'm taking the truck to the dealer tomorrow to have the butyl pad done, brake squeek checked, have the vibration/shudder at takeoff checked, and anything else I can think of checked, and now I can add this to the list of warrantied problems. That's pretty junky of ford, what happened to the good ole little lever that trucks used to have on them to adjust the tilt steering?

I would say if you got to raise the stearing to get out you probably got it adjusted too low. my steering wheel has only changed positions a few times sence I got the truck and set it in the right position for me and that was only becous someone else was driveing and adjusted it for themselves. I don't think it is designed to be adjusted on a everyday basis. I would think you are wearing it out by over using it.

Ha! No offense, but what on a truck is not meant to be used on an everyday basis? I didn't buy a $35k truck to look at it. I adjust my '93 f150 tilt steering every time I get in it, had it for 9 years....up when I get out, and down when I get ready to drive, that's the purpose. Unless you can find the spot where it is comfortable for you to get in and out of and drive w/o having to move it, which is what it sounds like you did. I can't do that, my knees hit it every time I get out if I don't put it back up.

Mine fell off on Saturday and I've only adjusted my wheel maybe three times. It's a crap design.

I'm not argueing its a crap design.

But when mine fell off my wife did it and she freaked, she thought she broke my third love (1st-her,2nd-daughter,3rd-truck). Well needless to say I had read on here that its just a bad design and an easy fix. So I told her I would have to get new nerf bars because all of the trouble this would cause. and then I took 1 minute and fixed it, after she agreed. Way to go Ford
