2005 4.6L Silencer Removed - What A Difference!
Hey guys. I wanted to let all you 4.6L owners know, before you go out and buy an intake, to remove the silencer from your OEM intake tube. I just got home from the test drive after I completed the mod and am very impressed to say the least. Throttle response is improved, and I'm feeling more torque down low. WOT onto the freeway from a stop was probably the best improvement of all of them.
Keep in mind I have 3 inch IMCO exhaust so this probably enhances the effects (more air in, more air out). Note that getting the tube out isn't easy! I spent an hour with pliers and a screwdriver prying and pulling before I finally forced it out. It's definitely worth the trouble though. I'm surprised and impressed by the effectiveness of this modification. I plan to add a K&N drop in filter to the system for even better results. Many thanks to ASINATRA for this great mod. You the man!

So honestly, this is the same thing as a cai, sheet man if thats the case I am going to rip that beech open tonight and give it a shot. If it works out then I might cancel my af1 order and go with the e fans. This always worked on the mustang motors, I wondered why it wouldn't be the same with our motors. Also its was pretty much proven that cai were a waste of money with 99+4.6 gt's.

I just made a couple runs in front of my job (almost ran over a homeless dude). Its alright, its no night and day difference you feel a little more pickup nothing to drastic, it is like 90 degrees though in miami right now. Maybe with a k&n filter it would pick up some more gains. I didnt get to take it over 50 mph. I'll come back with more when I got it.

I took out my silencer the first day I owned my truck yes much better on the peddle response. I then cut the filter housing around the spring arm and down to the base to keep it held down after I installed a hi flow filter.
