I dropped in the filter, I really didn't notice any change, I think I should have done everything together. Still diggin it though

I just added the 3 inch rubber PVC coupler into my fender. EXCELLENT MOD! The stock inlet is so small it's a travesty. Truck is definitely pulling harder in the mid and high RPMs. Throttle response improved more than just the silencer delete. This forum rocks!

Hey 4.6, I gotta see those mock-up pictures man!!! As for me, I have a date with Jon from JBA headers on Monday. This will be my first big mod for the truck and its frickin' free!!! I'm stoked big time!

Hey tell me how those JBAs go. I think some headers might be in the future for my truck. I'm trying to throw as many mods on my truck as I can now so when I program (Troyer most likely) I won't have to keep redoing my tunes. I'll get some pics up soon. By the way, this mod really does the trick. After driving home from work (20 minute drive and a few WOTs) I popped the hood to look at the intake (BTW this mod looks stock, check out the pics on page 4, mine is almost identical) and touched the 3" inlet. It was cold to the touch while the engine compartment was still hot. This tells me it's taking in all cold air, which is what I want. I am completely satisfied with my intake now. All I have to do is drop in the K&N and the system will be complete.

4.6,
I'm going back and forth with JBA about the headers. I have to free up my truck for about a week for them to R&D, but it's my daily driver right now. I was going to borrow my in-laws audi S4, but he's gonna have some work done next week on it---no getting around that. So, I'm going to try to talk JBA into rescheduling--hopefully that isn't going to be a big deal.

I saw the pics on pg 4--I'm kind of a go my own way sort of guy, but I always enjoy an inspiration/reference point, so I was hoping to see how you set it up.

I'll def post dozens of pictures on the forum after I get the headers put on--with dyno's too!!!! As I KNOW that I'll be the first 4.6L 05 F150 with JBA headers anywhere. I'm stoked as hell!

Sweet. I may just go with the Pacesetters since they're so cheap! However, if the JBAs show a much larger gain than the Pacesetter shorties I'll go with them.
I'll get pics up ASAP.

I just got off the phone with Jon and JBA. He's gonna set me up with some SS shorties, I just have to pay to get them ceramic coated---pennies to me. He's also gonna cut me a break to install them and a custom JBA exhaust as well when production is started. I expect to have them by early November. It seems like a ways a way, but I'm so busy this time of year, I'll hardly even notice. Anyway, it will be a nice x-mas present to me. Also, for anyone who is interested, they're mocking up my truck for the headers so that they can have a product to unveil at this years SEMA show. Anybody who goes may want to check out their booth!

I'm trying hard not to derail this thread which was about the silencer removal---so post some GD pictures or some sound clips or something!

Talking I cut my snorkal off.

The part that sticks inside the fender, I cut off. It still seals against the fender, but I cut the small opening part off. I then opened the opening up a little and rounded over the edge. I also took out the silencer and cleaned my MAF. My 98 4.6 SCAB goes like a S.O.B. now. I cannot believe the throttle resonse now. The little bit of growl is cool too.

I added a K&N to my 00 Grand Am GT when I had it and everything went downhill as soon as I put it in.. MY MPG dropped significantly and also my acceleration also dropped significantly.. I will never go back with K&N because of that...

But I am going to try this mod this week whenever I get time to do it..

I did this mod back in the summer and I still get around 20mpg. I got 20.8mpg the other day on a trip to GA.
