Bug Shield?
Bug Shield?
I just got it in the mail. The instructions aren't too descriptive.
Do I have to remove the grill to install it?
Does anybody have installation pointers?

You don't HAVE to remove the grill, just take out the 4 bolts in the L bracket part and loosen the 6 along the front edge of the hood enough to slid the bug shield between the hood and the grill.
Also I waited until the bug shield was sandwiched between the hood and grill before I put on the special tape to protect the hood from the end clips. A lot easier to see where they need to go, and you shouldn't have any problem moving the bugshield "wings" to put the tape and clips on.

That sucks! They said it would be easy. I guess I'll just take it to a truck shop and see how much they want to do. I'm not messing with the hood bolts and ****.

Its not that hard. If you have wrench or socket set or screwdriver, can't remember what you needed, and at the most 5 minutes you can do it yourself. You are making it harder than what it is, just take a look behind the grill and find the screws and you can see. Just like kingfish51 said, all you have to do is loosen them up a bit and slide the bug shield in there and tighten them back up. Good luck.

Do it yourself. It will take all of about 20 mins. Dealer will probably charge an hours labor, whatever that rate is.
Mart Man 03 L, probaly could jus loosen the L bracket bolts, I just found it easier to remove them.
Note - For the bolts, you need a 10mm socket.

Have no fear guys. I did it myself in about 15 mins. I just didn't want to go taking things apart on a brand new truck, but it was easy.
And I got my Line-X bedliner this morning. I'm lovin' it!

Also a bit of advice, do not push the bug guard to far down between the hood and surround of the grill itself before tightening.
I installed mine and had no problem for over a year, after i got in my accident last Dec. the place that fixed my truck re-installed it, in 2 places (one on each end where the screws are located) the paint is chipping due to this, im taking my truck back to them to fix....
