Probably the compressor clutch cycling. Whether it's normal or not depends on ambient temps and system load, but if it's cooling alright, I wouldn't worry about it.

What he said^^^ The compressor on the trucks is loud. Just tune it out, you know like the wife talking during a football game

I have a 2005 F150 I just bought on 7/31 and it is making the ticking also. Just came back from the dealer and they recharged the system and changed out the cycle switch but it still makes the noise, especially on fan speed one or two. They said it's normal but I'm extremely unhappy about this. Driving down the highway and (I've timed it) hearing a big click once every ten to fifteen seconds. Pretty sorry.
Anyway, have you gotten any other real opionions? Other than to tune it out.

My '05 is doing it as well. I'm usually pretty sensitive to wierd noises and rattles, so this is a bit annoying.

I have the same problem with my 05 Lariat. I've moaned and groaned and had it looked at several times. It is absolutely and disappointingly normal. I've begun to tune it ou (much like the GF during football ), but I also put dynamat and carpet padding in the doors and believe it or not, it has significantly cut down the sound so that I only hear it with the radio off and sitting in park.

I had a 2005 Mustang GT for a few months. The A/C compressor made the exact same noise as it does in my truck.

Before you ask, my family got bigger faster than the back seat of the mustang.

Exactly. ^^^
You have 4 choices:
1. Ignore it, it is NORMAL
2. Listen for every click, dwell on it, let it bother you.
3. Turn off the A/C and swelter.
4. Get another truck.

Which seems easiest?
