Butyl Pad Repair Gone Sour!
Matt---
I just went out and checked on the adjustments...it seems that it was spot welded too far forward..I will see on the AM of monday if they can correct this without removing the welds and starting over. god forbid I drive that damn kia for another week.

Bizarre.
I was about to say the dirt particles and orange peel (aka FLA) would go away with block sanding, but since the FX4 decal is applied, that obviously isn't going to happen.
I don't think it unreasonable at all to expect it to be redone.

I think I could have gotten better results with less overspray with a spraypaint can!
I would seriously give them hell. Its rediculus to pay 20k++ for a truck and then they do that to you.
That's terrible. Like was said before.. take ALOT of pics... take pics of truck on their lot...
Unacceptable!
makes me mad and its not even my truck.

Lets just say the sticker on this one was $35600...I dont care that I get A-plan and a slew of rebates. If they can put a sticker of that price, I can say I paid that for it. That would be the full replacement value if I purchased it....
Im so frustrated. They will hear from me on monday for sure.

Rchimelak,
I hope all works out well; you have every right to complain about the quality of the repair.
I had the pad replaced about six months ago right when I got the recall letter. I was waxing my truck this weekend and noticed that there were two, very small bubbles on my fender. I stuck my head under the truck to take a look and discovered a large amount of visible rust where the recall had been performed. Needless to say, I am
I will be on the phone Monday with the service manager to get my rear fender replaced, since the rust is only going to get worse.

Well guys, I found myself at the dealership this morning---
Orange peel I am told is something I will have to deal with (in fact, the manager says it looks better than the factory orange peel)
The gap between the sheet metal and the tail-lamp --I am told it must have always been there and I never noticed the 1/4 inch gap....
The gap of the rear qrt not matching the tailgate---same answer as the the tail lamp
The overspray and correction---opps sorry **** happens
Alignment of the box and bumbers that they took off---whats an inch vs inch & a half?
The gauge in the bumper---c'mmon, we didnt do that, we arent responsible.

So I went to then speak to my service rep who looked at the vehicle a bit closer and now understands my concerns and feels that I honestly should be upset. He handed me a paper to fill out for the regional ford rep to review---hopefully he can get me in by Friday for a review
In the mean time I called the useless ford number, who documented it and will send it to customer relations at the dealership---Ford dealers are independently owned and therefore responsible for their shotty work--not Ford?!?!?!?
Any one suggest anything to me for further corrections?

I took my truck in today and they got the parts ordered to replace my rear fender. The dealership was extremely helpful, so I asked a few questions about the repair process. He said that you are supposed to remove the bed, perform the repair and paint, then bolt the bed back on. There is no way that you should have gotten the overspray on your vehicle. That type of orange peel is not normal, and the fender looks like it wasn't placed properly before being spot welded. Raise H3!!
