So I got my new 05 XLT because I couldn't find a Lariat anywhere that was what I wanted (serves me right for waiting so long), and I want to put a leather wrapped steering wheel in. That's easy enough since they keep popping up on Ebay, but my problem is the airbag. Obviously, the grey airbag would look bad with the black wheel, and the price of a new airbag is really cost prohibitive. I am leary of buying a used airbag off of Ebay since everyone selling them for less than MSRP says "I don't know where it came from."

One option suggested to me was to simply paint the cover of my airbag. I was wondering if anyone had painted vinyl like this (apparently there are new paints out that are more vinyl compatible, and are supposed to not crack/chip/etc.) What kind of results did you get? And if I do paint it, is the Ford logo in the middle removable, or will I just have to mask it?
