Painting the side mirrors tomorrow, questions, opinions and pics wanted!!!

Hey All,

So tonight I’m taking off the side mirrors to take them into the body shop Wednesday morning. They will sand, prime and paint to match each mirror for a total of $200. We shall see how it turns out, I’m hoping well.

Two questions though:
1. How illegal is it to drive around without side mirrors for a day? I know one of them is optional, but don’t know if I’m really going to stick out to the cops without them both.

2. Has anyone had them painted? Can you chime in with what you had done and how it turned out? I seem to remember a guy with a white F150 that had his done and a guy with a red one. I just can’t seem to find the pictures. I wonder if it would look better if I put covers over the actual part of the mirror so that it’s flat and doesn’t have the edging in it.

Thoughts guys? I’ll post pics when I get them on Thursday night, if I end up going through with it.

Thanks,

Duke

The F-150 that was being auctioned had painted mirrors, maybe someone can include a picture of it. They looked pretty damn good!

Hmm, where did you see that?

I was thinking that maybe a set of covers over the mirros to smooth them out would look better instead of having those grooves through the mirror.

Hmm, would have thought someone would have posted some pics and opinions by now....definitely a slow day!

I have the picture set as my background but I didn't save the image. Looking over it again it does look like they used covers because I can't see that line in the mirror.

Do they have the tow mirrors or the other mirrors? The only covers I can find are chrome and I don't think they can paint over those.

I can't seem to find the picture of the white supercrew that had his mirrors and handles painted awhile back. Can someone help me find this thread?

Thanks,

Duke

So does anyone know where I can find these mirror covers so I can have smooth mirrors?

I may put off the painting till next week since I'll be out of town then and the truck can just sit in my garage. It stinks, but I have to be out of town all week for work next week. Can't be that bad though, San Diego here I come!

If that image is currently your background, it is stored on your PC somewhere.

LOL I just found them to!!!!! Thanks Thumper! I'm looking through his website too. Looks like he just had them painted and didn't have covers put on. I think that's what I'll just do too. The crease won't look that bad.

So just have the body shop fill the creases. Best of both worlds.
