will ethanol hurt my triton?
will ethanol hurt my triton?
Hi guys new to the site and I really want to start using the corn based fuel but I dont know if it will work. I couldnt find it on any of the websites for the fuel, thoughts?
Welcome to the forum
You’ll find some discussion about ethanol in the “Chips & Programming” forum. From what I’ve read about it, it doesn’t hurt anything but does decrease power and fuel efficiency.

Thank you for your reply, I heard something about the seals cracking and drying out, but I also heard that we have good seals on our triton blocks. i really dont know much about f150s this is my first truck.
F150's can take up to 10% ethanol. Don't try to run the E70/E85 blends. The vehicle isn't calibrated for it and doesn't have the correct hardware (fuel lines/injectors) or calibration to run it. There should be a Flexfuel F150 soon that can run ethanol. Plus ethanol costs about the same as gasoline and only has half the energy content (mpg).....

Here in Colorado we are required to use ethenol and methanol mix in the gas between October and March to supposedly help reduce emmissions. I know it's bunk, but it is the only fuel available in the pumps here. Some stations use methanol others use ethenol. It doesn't seem to make any difference in the vehicles here at altitude. As it is the regular octane gas here is 85, supposedly to adjust for the lack of air. We can't even find gas over 91 octane at the pumps in the whole state.
The biggest problems we see here is vapor locking. I also think that the largest mix is only 10-15%, the rest is gas.

I'm looking into the possiblity of converting the 04/05 i'm was gonna buy to run CNG as gas prices up in BC are just wrong. but if ford is about to launch a flexfuel system i may hold out for that.
