PCM or Oil

hey, got a question for you all- a few weeks ago I had my PCM updated to my new tires. over the past two weeks, I have noticed a steady decline in all performance. now the question is- when they were having complications updating the pcm, did something screw up? or is it possible that since i've got 4400 miles on my truck, and it is still running the original oil, that it is just a negative function of the old oil, and a change would perk her up again?

thanks guys!
Justin

Sounds more like the adaptive strategy kicking in to me.

sure, it is always adapting, but why would it be adapting in a negative fashion? shouldn't it function to improve? like lately, every couple starts i get a clank at ignition, and in respect to the trucks acceleration a week ago, it's a whole new ball game today.
thx

4400 mile oil would not effect performance, unless there were only 2 quarts of it in there, then you would hear more than a clunk...

That might be as good as it gets. CAN is a different animal that triggers many defensive measures to protect the engine and power train. A factory re-flash code for that size tire might be one of them whereas you never have access to100% power.

Doesn't sound good to me. I would take it in to the place that did it, and have them check it out. If they knocked something loose, or a part is screwing up now is the time to take it in.

yea, well, I'm headed down to Cheyenne Wy early next week, so will be taking it to Ford for its 5000 mi, checkup, and first oil change on Monday... i'll ask them what all happened when they recalibrated the pcm... when they worked on the tire recalib. the pcm locked them out twice from the pcm interface. so they said they had to 'trick' it into accepting the new tire calibration figures...maybe the PCM has actively adapted to the 'trick' and is expressing its displeasure with being fooled with. ahhh computers.
thanks guys-
JJ
