in dash dvd

I'm getting ready to buy an in dash dvd player, i'm either going with this one or this one do any of you guys have experience with either of these? which do you recommend?
also are both of these able to be bypassed for the passenger to watch while driving just by grounding the park brake wire?

thanks, smeezy

While I do not own either one of them, many here prefer the one that does not flip out. If I had the money, I would get the one in your second link.

As far as bypassing the DVD system, I have no clue...

thanks for the opinion, that's what i was looking for. i do kind of like the ones that dont flip out as well, but i was just thinking that maybe the ones that flip out are a little bit more secure (theifs less often will notice it.)

I just bought and installed the DDX-7017 from that exact ebay dealer.
So far I love it and it looks, fits and works great.
I prefer the looks of it compared to the flip out kind

I would go with the DDX7017 because it just looks like it belongs in the dash. I got the DDX8017 a few weeks ago and I love it. I had the KVT-815DVD before that and I just felt like if I were to close and open this thing too many times, it was gonna go bad on me. I had a Pioneer P7300DVD a few years ago and a gear that opened the screen broke after I had had it for about 6 months. Had to send it to Pioneer and it cost me like $200.00. All you have to do for "passengers to watch DVDs is ground the parking brake wire. Here are some pics of the DDX8017:

I would go with the Kenwood shown above or the Eclipse AVN 5435, there are some pictures of it inside my gallery.

I Have had the 7017 in my truck with the NAV system for almost a year now and love it. as for bypassing the Parking brake lockout so the passenger can watch yes that is possible and is the way mine is hooked up.

Did anyone mention that hanging out on this board is hazardous to your financial health?

I put in the Kenwood 7015. My only regret is not taking the time to read the manual cover to cover. It's menu system is not exactly intuitive (when do you use the F key, the Vsel key, etc. ) I probably should curl up and read the dang thing someday. It will do whatever you want, but it may take a bit of trial and error to get it to the right mode. I suspect this has been improved in the 8017. Looks wise, it's a perfect fit.

I have a lot of install notes available by clicking the picture below.
