In the other post he stated that they popped the window off track and slid it over. This sucks is there anything that can be done to secure these windows next to welding it to its tracks.

As soon as you make something idiot proof, someone will make a better idiot. There is no way for it to be totally secure. All you can do is make it not such an easy target.

Like Kd4crs said, no matter how well you "secure" your window it's still glass. You can do things to keep away the opportunity thieves but if someone wants in, they're getting in. Yes, alarms get ignored but I don't think a thief will sit in your truck taking your stereo out with the alarm going off...if he does he'll be sitting there when you come out to kick his azz.

Yes, but if there are two vehicle's sitting next to each other, one w/ a door unlocked and one w/ a door unlocked, which vehicle do you think a car thief is going to take?

Same thing applied to a truck with a sliding rear glass window... If he can pop it open w/ a knife/hanger and slide in the back vs. having to smash a window open, what do you think he's going to do?

Like I've always heard... you can't make it thief proof but you want to make it so it's not an easy target... They'll go after the easy one.

Wow... I wonder if the wooden dowel in the track would even protect agains that one!

I plan to get an alarm system before I do any audio as well as some window tint... Stupid state police keep turning down my application for a window tint waiver... Last one I had written down that I drive around with Cash and computer equipment regularly for my business and they still denied it. YAY for police departments! The police could make some serious $$ if you could pay like $200 for a window tint license and all they did was do a quick background check like when you buy a gun to make sure you don't have any serious felony charges or warrants... The ticket here for a window tint violation is $150 your first time... $250 the 2nd, and $350 your third time...

But, anyway, going to get an alarm w/ one of the little beeper things. Plus, ppl that know me know they'll get shot if they touch my truck so it'll probably end up being someone I don't know trying to steal my stuff.

could add a headache rack?

Seems to me that your back window would be less vulnerable if it had a headache rack in front of it. Maybe the kind that doesn't have the window slider cutout. I guess it would be like adding bars over house windows. I don't own a headache rack so i'm not sure how easy it is to remove or break. Just a thought.

Hmm, I am confused. Are there any pics of the rear sliding window? Anyone have this option? I really am interested and want this feature. I like the solid back window, and if there is an option to have it slide down, that would be great.

Wish someone who had an old one could look at a new one to see if it's the same or better.

.
My old F150 was a '90 and the slider was two pieces so, if you put a spackle knife straight between the two, you could VERY easily unlatch the cheap plastic "hasp". I found out about this from a guy that I used to work with. He would break into trucks while the guy was getting lunch and grab power tools.
The new ones are one piece so obviously different but I'm not convienced that are totally secure although much better than old.

What kind of latch does your have?

It's a one piece glass that slides over and there is a little latch that grabs onto the other side. It's got a spring in it so it's automatic. I've been looking and it looks like it would be hard to force something in to bump the latch open but you never know what people can do.

Think I might get a wooden dowel to put in there for now and maybe come up with something else that'll hold the latch tight but still easy to take off so I can open the window up.
