I Need Electrical Help! (ChrisAdams?)

Ok so my remote window module to roll up and down my SPAL power windows came in yesterday. I started working on installing it today and im having a problem with the wiring. Heres some visual aid:

How I have my window switches wired -

The instructions for the Module -

Now the way I interpreted the instructions was to cut the leads from the switches to the motors and pass them through the module.... if that makes any sense. But obviously that doesnt work..... can anyone shine some light on me?

PS - I know this might not techincally be the right forum but Im looking for quick responses and posting in both.

Having tough time typing, bear with me. Is this module express, or just roll up-down?

Modules use diodes, that means the power must pass through in the direction that they indicate. Not just 'break the wires' but current flow MUSTbe in the right direction.

Heres a link to the auction i got it off of and another for their website :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=94833&rd=1

Im not exactly sure what you mean by express but its not like yours that I believe makes a one touch of the switch roll the windows all the way down. It is to integrate into the alarm system to I can roll the down remotely and they autamatically roll up when the alarm is activated.... I have an idea of how the switches work and the idea of how the module is supposed to work but the way instructions are kind of confuse me..... Im not exactly sure what it means by "switch" considering there are five wires.... 12v, 2 grounds, and 2 for the motor. I hope Im making some sense and thanks again for all your help!

I read the ad. Simple system. It only works with an outside switch source. hat means that when you hook it up right, it will function when you ground either yellow wire or yellow/white wire.
For test purposes, after you splice it in, and verify that your windows still work with the switches in your doors, test the module by touching one of the yellow wires to ground momentairly. the window motors should run, both at once. Then after it quits, touch the other yellow wire mometarly to ground and windows should reverse till they stop.
verify that before moving to hooking to your keyless entry/alarm.

1. make sure windows work normally.
2. ground for instant one of signal wires, (yellow)
3. wait, then ground for instant other signal wire.
If it works both ways, then proceheh to either mounting momentary switct(S) or hooking to ground signal from keyless.

Ok..... well heres the results: When I ground it like you say then I can actually hear the module clicking three times as if attempting to roll the windows down or up yet the do not move.... I think my problem is the "splicing it in" correctly... What exactly is the module doing? Is it basically acting as an automated switches that just bridges different 12v and ground to reverse polarity? Or is it actually sending the 12v current? Im sorry if Im missing something obvious and I really appreciate your help!

The three clicks make me think that you have either the wires reversed, or not enough power. Reversed most likely.

The Module requires lots of amps, not hooked to key. It also must have a great ground.

Be sure the wires are going the right direction. I think you have a up going to a down. You must have the wires exactly as shown, up/down wire means wire that is hot when window is going that way.
I am fairly sure you have polarity reversed on one or more of the 4 wires.
Try writing your own diagram on a piece of paper, using your own names, drawing for each component. You will find the hook up error, I think.
Remember, diode only allows power one way, not both.

It supplies the power. the witch on the door suplys the ground, as when at rest the switch grounds both wires to motor.

Ok..... so the Green/Black , Blue/Black , Brown/Black , and White/Black wires supply 12V's and connect directly to the motor? So what do the Solid colors do and where do they connect?

VICTORIOUS!!! OK..... well I found the problem..... i think while working I may have accidently grounded something..... I opened the module and quickly noticed two circuits had been blown.... I simply saudered them back together and very carefully wired it back and Voila!.... THANKS for all your help once again Chris!!!..... seems like a very worth while mod though!!!

Great, good work on bug hunting.

I like the idea of it dropping the windows 2 inches when hot. I think I might add something like that sometime.

Yeah..... another feature I wasnt even banking on was it made my switches express up/down!!! Of course in the Texas heat I quickly got a chance to test the venting and sure enough it worked pretty well..... only thing is what happens if it rains?..... Maybe now I have a good excuse to get some vent visors!

KaNigIt, how is that module working out? Express up and down working on both windows?

I got one of them, but have not had time to mess with it. It says it's a
WR-16 on the instructions, and there is no mention of express up or down anywhere.
