personally the Diablo is better than the 1714, but the Excalibrator is the best and most expensive.

Had a Diablo Predator, was OK, but pretty "generic". Now have an X-Cal 2 w/custom tuning, no comparison to the Predator, X-Cal 2 all the way.

Xcal 2 is definately the best, and can be found for about $400 with custom tuning, which is a pretty good deal

its generic but also $175 less than the Xcalibrator. it all depends on your needs. i dont do anything that needs custom tuning. and its only maybe 2-3 HP difference. i couldnt justify spending the extra

I've had the superchips and the Diablo Predator,. If you are power mad, get the excal 2. If you just want to put a tune in the truck, and forget it, not play with the settings a lot, get a superchips.
The Diablo Predator has some nice features most will never use, and the stock shift settings suck. Nice to play with, but a lot of fiddle factor.

The Superchips is point and forget.

I am sure the EX cal is a great device, but I paid 307 new for my Superchips, and sold it on e-bay for 230 seven months later. I paid 210 for the diablo, used.
If you compare apples and oranges, the more expensive will always sound better.

If you don't mind spending the bucks, the Excal 2 wins.
Have fun with whatever you get,
Chris

Excalibrator 1 and 2?

Both tuners recieve the same tune? Correct? 2 just has more features?
Why not just buy the Excal1?

it depends, when you break down the price of the X1 WITH the cable, and the X2 that doesnt need a fancy one, the difference is only about $25. plus with the X2 you get datalogging, in hand tweaking AT the truck, and it reads diagnostic trouble codes on any OBD-II vehicle

...just make sure it's a 2-headed coin & call X-Cal 2 "heads"...

I have the superchips 1745, and I agree, just install it and forget about it, great performance! Trouble free!

So say if my cousin 05 sd diesel threw a code I could hook it up and it would tell me or just on my vehicle only

You can read & clear OBD-II DTC's on any Ford vehicle and still have your own truck tuned
