Angry 3 year old throws rocks at my truck

Im so pissed! Driving home with my 13 year old son today. We drive by a small child standing next to his mom while she is on her cell phone. Sure enough I watch him wind up and launch a handful of rocks at my truck. Pelted the whole right front of the truck. I pull over and get out to see if any damage was done. Sure enough. Hood, Rt.Fender,Rt.Frt.Door.Windshield,Rt.window post,Rt Frt.Door glass all chipped! 3 years old, how the heck he throw hard enough to do that? I know every mark on my truck.Just had it to a local car show the night before.
I am in the bodyshop business,I know all to well how much its gonna cost to repaint this. I tell the woman there is 3 grand in paint work here. She tells me Im crazy. So here we go. I call the police. They arrive in minutes. I ask them to make a report. Blah,blah,blah......Im just pissed! I feel the mother is at fault for allowing this small child to do this. She was right next to him on her phone. I dont post very much here, but wanted to get this off my chest. I love my truck, and its damn near perfect. It is how I make my living. I sell alot of work from people looking at my truck! It gets waxed every damn week. My gallery is lars464 if you wanna see for yourself. Now I have to almost take the thing apart to repaint it with no tape lines,etc...Thanks for letting me vent folks. Ps-If my sons window was down, he would have been pelted in the head with rocks.

Damn that really sucks. She should of been paying attention to what her son was doing standing next to a road and not too busy on the damn phone. She better be paying what its going to cost to be fixed! I feel for you man. I just found out the dealer repainted my hood before I even drove it off the lot without telling me about it. I don't care but it would of been nice to know they had to re-paint it.

Bro that just plain sucks. If any of my kids pulled something like that I'd have to cut a bushel of switches for them. It all goes back to parents who have kids but are too lazy or too unconcerned to discipline them and bring them up with respect for others and their property.

I feel for ya pard.

Thanks. The small child was crying very hard because his mom screamed at him so loud. I do not hold blame to a 3 year old child. Just his mom. The Police officer wanted to bring the child to me to apoligize, but I didnt feel this was necessary. Why traumitize a young child? No need to do that. I dont think she has the money to cover the damage. Which means I must go thru my Insurance, eat the deductible, and let them subrogate to her.

The LEAST she could do is pay your deductible, you're right, it is her responsability, even if it isn't her fault. Take lots of pictures of the damage.

Well, she is responsible for her child. If she gives you any crap, you can sue her. Hopefully, your insurance company will help you out.

Lars,

I feel for you. Years ago I used to drive a piece of cr** Honda Civic. I was coming out of a McDonalds and a kid was throwing stones at my car while his mother was watching. They were both foreigners, towels drapped across her face, dressed in robes. Anyway, I start screaming at the kid and mother. The mother starts yelling at me in some foreign language and screaming - ALLALALALALA. Needless to say, there was no resolution and the language barrier didn't help.

Good luck with the insurance.

The best place to hit that mother is in her pocket book. That will teach her to keep a better eye on her kid. 3k is a lot of money.

Just got the police report. Called the mother up. She has no money. I will just go thru my carrier and let them chase her. Gonna cost me 500.00. I may get it back, but not likely. It's not the money for me, It's just so much work to do. Darn, Im still hot over this!

Yep going after her financially would feel great but she probably doesnt have it or collecting it would be too much work.

Rough one....
