Who Has Installed A SuperCharger In Their F-150?
Who Has Installed A SuperCharger In Their F-150?
[reference]
I am planning on buying the above product (PowerDyne SuperCharger). They say it's a simple install, you don't need very much knowledge of your truck at all, just a few simple hand tools and you get a 45-50% increase in power. I am willing to bet it's another one of those too good to be true deals. I am wondering if anyone has heard anything good/bad about this product, or how hard it is to install. I was thinking of the roush supercharger as well, but that's a bit pricey, and the performance gain can't be all that much. The roush supercharger adds 112 horses, and it is more expensive than a product that should add around 125-150 horses. Does the wonderful warranty make the cost difference increase by nearly half?
With this installed I am hoping to be in the 13-14 second range in the 1/4 mile. Anyone have an idea of how unrealistic this is? I am probably choking the chain a bit too much with that guess, but I can always hope.

$2999.99........................................$5 199.99..............................
The toughest thing I've done on a car was replace it's air filter, rotated an f-150's tires, but I am very good with electronics, computers, etc. I hope I have not outdone myself.

There are a lot of things to concider when buying a s/c. the first thing is money. The roush is a roots s/c which will give you full boost at low rpms. (i think is better for a truck) the power dyne is a centrifical s/c which will give you full boost at the top of your rpms. (which is good for the track). I`m not an expert but there are other thing you need to concider after the s/c is installed like a dyno tune, intercooler if it doesnt come with one. A friend of mine had a 03 gt mustang and we put on a kenni bell s/c which was about 5k and before everything was set right he spent 10k. I`m pretty sure you wouldn`t need everthing he had but it still cost more then the price of the s/c. Remember you dont have forged internals so you cant go to high with the boost.

Hehe, I would love it if a mod would move this to the Supercharger/Turbocharger forum for maybe a more appropriate response. Thanks for the replies guys, they really helped (seriously).
If I were doing a s/c install on my 04 f 150 it would be a whipple, its similar $$ as the Roush but better in every aspect. The powerdyne is a good product but that price doesnt include an intercooler, which is a must IMO and they dont make the torque a roots or screw compressor do. Like another poster said the centrifugal is great for the track (or lightweight cars), not so great for a truck, but still alot better than what youve got now.
my friend did a power dyne on his stang and it sucked. I had a procharged stang and that thing was scarry, scarry dosent even define it. I'd stay awy from it though. I myself am looking into a kenne bell, I just like what I hear from them.

My buddy is getting the Vortech installed this weekend. Will post photos and do a little write up once he gets it back. Will be taking it to the dyno on Monday or Tues. to fine tune it. Can't wait to test drive it BUT I have a feeling I will want one ....

sorry man I meant scarry like my stang went from a low 13 sec car to a mid 12 sec car, and that was only cause I'd still be smokin'em in 3rd gear. Thats what was scarry, the freakin car wouldnt stay on the ground and that was with the stock pulley. It did blow my motor though, and I have heard those are the ones to blow motors more often than others.
