The wait for Black LT Handles should be over
The wait for Black LT Handles should be over
Just wanted to post and let you guys know that I got my last door handle (drivers door with keyless entry) yesterday. Funny thing was expected release date when checked last week said 8-27-05. The parts manager broght me the box yesterday, so I now have both door handles. The passengers side handle came in last week.
I do have one question. I've seen that you have to remove the inner door panel to swap out the handles. When I did a search on this topic is showed removing the speaker. Do you have to remove the speaker to remove the panel, or will it just hang to the side with the speaker in tact?
Thanks for any help provided.

You have to remove the speaker. The bolts that go hold the speaker on pass through the inside door trim and then through the door frame. So to remove the inside door trim, the speaker must be removed. BTW, I'm waiting on the driver side handle also, so I'm hoping I'll be contacted soon.

i just installed my LT handles this past sunday.
You need to remove the speaker cover (just snaps in) and then the 4 screws that hold the speaker in. Remove the speaker. You will then see the four white plastic posts that the speaker screws screw into.... I used a pair of needle nose pliers and removed the 2 bottom ones... they pull straight out.
Then you need to remove the 2 small screws at the very bottom of the door, the two screws from behind the little removeable plate by the interior door handle, and then pop off the armrest piece that holds the switchs... there is a bolt in there... once these are removed the panel should slide up and off.

Actually, if you work it right - you don't have to remove the speaker mounting clips (white circular) - you can get the door panel up and out....when I had mine out the 1st time installing my Kappa's - I went ahead a dremeled a slot in the plastic - for the bottom speaker clips to slip through when pushing the door panel down to reinstall - works great and makes R&R'ing the front door panels a breeze!
By the way I just received my black front two LT handles in the mail yesterday - can't wait to get'em installed so finally all 4 door handles will match
Thanks for the info guys. I just did my passenger side door and it came out great. I'll wait till tomorrow morning to do the drivers side since it's like 100 degrees outside and I don't have a garage to work in.
I'm a little concerned about the drivers side with the keyless entry. Did you guys just leave the door panel hanging by the inner door handle cable? I'm wondering how Im going to get back into the door area to remove / install the wire harness that comes with the handle. Is there an easy way to remove the cable or latch assy for the inner door handle so it's not in your way?
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
