Find my sound

Ok, i want something like this.

Not as loud or obnoxious as flow 40 series. but i do want an aggressive sound and i want it to be smooth. not that nasty echo sound like the flows.
I need a SI/DO muffler that will be exiting right in front of the rear tire on the passenger side like this magnaflow:http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/parts/16617_lg.jpg

I do want to be able to hear it, otherwise i would just buy the magnaflow, but they are really quiet.

So anyone got an suggestions, i would rather stay under 300-350 for the muffler, piping, bending and install to get it where i want.

Also is there a way to make that magnaflow louder???

Ive heard of people adding high flow cats? does this help?
Also a couple of other questions about the Catalytic converters:
1. Are they illegal?
2. Are they raspy or anything
3. Do they increase/decrease HP

BTW. this will all be on a 2005, 4.6 Single cab, 6.5 bed STX, 4x4.

magnaflow is the way to go, i just traded in my mustang for my f-150. magnaflow makes high flow cats and they are exellent and legal and they increase hp. they made an exhaust called magnapacks that were really loud so it might be a little to much. the raspy sound you are talking about usually only comes from chambered exhaust like flowmasters. you might want to look at bassani or borla also they make great exhausts and the main thing is all these exhausts are stainless steel.

ok, so i think what im gonna do then is get the magnaflow i listed up there, and then one of there high flow cats to make it a little louder, and it will obviously increase hp...

Now do i have to worry about a Check Engine light or anything like that with this system?

FWIW -- I love the sound of my Magnaflow SIDO. I think it has the perfect balance of a nice, aggressive sound under acceleration, without any annoying drone at highway speeds!

Alright man, well i guess i will check out the magnaflow, its kinda $$$, but oh well, and if its not loud enough for me, then i will add a high flow, and if that doesnt work, then ill find something else...

Hey does anyone know where i can find the high flow cat that would work on my truck with no problems(Fit, Check Engine Light, things like that)

no check engine light with the hi-flow cats. probably get better gas mileage if you stay out of the gas. lol

ya, im just really afraid that magnaflow will be too quiet.

How loud are the Imco's, like as compared to a Dump-off flowmaster in my friends Dodge which isnt too loud for me.

Thats basically what im looking for, is something in between the quietness of magnaflow and the loudness of the 40 series. but with the ability to put the dual tips in front of the rear tire.

I have the Magnaflow dual side exit kit in front the tire. It does get pretty loud when you get out in, but not overly agressive. It's just nice and deep. It has to be louder than duals staight out the back.

There are 4 cats on this truck, so if you are thinking about getting high flow cats you should atleast get two.

The Flowmaster 40 series American Thunder is the loudest muffler you can get. All the Flowmasters sound good and so d the Magnaflows. I personally like the Flowmaster Hushpowers theyre a little mellower than the loud guys but I love the sound, very "pretty" if you can use that word to describe the sound of an exhaust. But if you want the loudest most agressive muffler you need the Flowmaster 40 series American Thunder. There are different types of 40 series and you need to make sure you get the American Thunder. Magnaflows sound just ok I think, but they are tried and tested to be the best performing exhaust according to Troyer which I dont think anyone would argue his being correct about which products perform the best.

I have the 50 series on my 04' with the 5.4 it it sounds real good nice and deep out the back and a little rumble in the cab but it's that loud. It is 3" pipe from the cat back into a SIDO then 2 1/2" from the muffler out the back thru 4" crome tips. I have some sound clips but i don't know how to post them. I can email them to anybody that wants them.
