Question New Gears

I found someone to install new gears for my truck.. He's supposed to be real good.. He said labor would be $325+tax... I think thats pretty resonable...

I also had a talk with a tech from Randy's ring and pinion...

I told him I was looking into getting a 4.56 gear set because nobody makes a 4.30 for a 9.75" rear end. He recommended 4.11 gears.

He strongly recommended me not to get a 4.56 gear because of my tire size.. Right now, im running a 29.5"ish tire and soon I will be puttin on my new Lariet wheels and tires which are 30ish"..

What do you guys think? Is 4.56 too steep for daily driving on my 30" tires..
Bout 50/50 Highway/City driving.

I was quoted today at $236 for the gear set, $125 for the pinion kit and 3$25 for the install...

Mine is a 2wd though..... 4wd is a whole other/more expensive ball game.

I was thinking 4.56 was a little steep even for 35's. I wouldn't even think of trying it with 30's. I wish someone would make 4.30 ish for our trucks. I was thinking of going to the 35's and I would rather get the 4.30 gears than 4.56. by the way those of you with 35's and 4.56, what rpms are you running at 65 mph. although if I did get 4.56 I could probably tow without turning off the overdrive.

I have 4.56s and 37s and i think that gearset is right near stock with maybe a little more pep off the line. I would definately NOT get 4.56s unless you are running 35s or 37s. Thats my opinion.
4.11s would be great for your application.
Give us some feedback after you install your gears.
