My new T-ruck!!!

Hi all! I am the FNG here as I just bought a 2005 FX4 SC yesterday. I went to the dealership looking for a red one and I didn't see any on the lot, so I drove a black one. Well, I told the salesman that I really wanted red. Low and behold, the manager there was driving a fully decked out red FX4 with about 1400 miles on it. He asked me if I would take it if he could work out a good deal. It was exactly the truck I was looking for and I ended up getting it for about $1000 below the family plan price out the door (all taxes tags and fees). I don't know if I got a good deal or not, but it's not to often you can exactly what you want for less than the going rate. Anyway...

My new truck is bright red with black leather interior. It's got the tow package, power moonroof, bright tubular running bars and the 18" wheels. I love it. I'm taking it back Monday to have a Rhino Liner put in. Here are some pictures...

The only problem I can see so far is I think they installed the wrong head unit. The sticker says I have the 6 Disc CD Changer with MP3 as well as audiophile but the system won't take MP3 discs. I plan on asking them to put in the correct unit. Here's a photo of the head unit. It doesn't say "MP3" on it. Am I smoking crack here?

Any suggestions on the first mod?

Jay

Jay - welcome and congrats on your new ride!! I have the same HU and it will not play MP3's. The MP3 player comes with the "Preimum Sound System" and then they add the sub to make it the Audiophile sound system. My brother and I both have fully loaded '05 Lariat 4x4 Screws with the "Audiophile" sound system and he has the MP3 and I do not....his HU is marked 6CD/MP3 and mine is blank like in your picture.

Congrats and welcome to f150online.com...

The MP3 thing has been discussed here a bunch... I'd encourage you to search around and I think you'll find several good answers to your question... I believe it's supposed to say MP3 on it...

First mod... hahahaha... just lurk here for a while and you'll have a list as long as your leg.

unless they changes the HU's for 05 at some point no "MP3" on the face means you dont have it.

Head Unit

Would someone pull their sticker out that has the MP3 capability and see if it reads in the optional equipment column:

AUDIOPHILE 250
6-DISC CD CHGR W/MP3 CAPABILIT 300

I think they just installed the wrong unit. I'll take it in tomorrow but I am just curious about it. Thanks!

Jay

Hey man, welcome to the site and nice truck!!!

I would like to take the time to make one small suggestion, however. Please go with Line-X bedliner over Rhino. Take a look over in the bedliner forums for reasons why.

Also, check out my thread for pictures and such!
