Forward facing signal mirror mod

For those new to the forum, here is a nice mod I did myself. It really sets my truck apart from the rest. Not even the new Mark LT has this. Super bright LEDS are used. The best part, I looks factory! Tell me what you think! More pics in gallary.

Very nice!! The only concern I'd have down here is all the bugs we have. I couldn't quite tell how tight the LED's were mounted or did you end up with a gap. Yeah, give us some details please.

How it is done. Forward facing signal Mirrors.

Ok here we go. Tools needed.

Phillips screwdriver, clear epoxy (waterproof), LEDs. (Orange, superbrite they cost a little extra)
wire striper's, soder iron and soder, dremil or drill and time.

This install will take about 3hrs to make both sides right, and you will need to leave the covers off the truck overnight (allows the epoxy to cure)

1. Remove the mirrors. Put your power mirrors all the way down. The mirror is held on by four clips. One each in North, south, east and west positions. Use a flathead screwdriver and flashlight and pry the off one at a time. Once off disconnect the heated mirror wires.

2. You will see 3 Phillips screws that hold the mirror cover on. unscrew them and pull the cover off. this may be a little hard so give a good pull.

3. Once off you will see the wires for the factory rear signals in the mirrors, you will splice into these later.

4. Decide how many LEDs you want to put on each side. (Put at least four). evenly space them, mark your holes, and once you are sure they are level and in a straight line drill your holes for the mounting rings of the LED's.

5. Once drilled insert your LEDs with a small amount of super glue just to hold it in place while you wire them.

6. Now the fun part. you will need to loop the wires in series and soder them together. This will take time and Patience todo it right. Once done use a 9volt battery to test that all are working befor you go further. Be sure to leave a length of wire to splice power from the factory signals.

7. When done, and you are sure they all work, Cover the entire rear of the LEDs and wires in waterproof epoxy. This will hold the LEDs in place, ensure none of the wires or connections come free from wind and vibration. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Allow to cure overnight.

8. Splice into the factory REAR LEDs for power and re-install the covers and mirrors.

You are done! I think it looks factory. If you want I can do it for you, contact me!
