The Reg cab is pretty small inside, so I just used a very low priced box from a retail autoparts place and an 8 inch woofer. Fits nicely behind the passenger seat. Depends on if the sound is for you, or to impress the houses you drive past.
If it's just you, a small sub works pretty good, but the stock 25 watt speakers in the doors should go first.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P4600MP CD/MP3/XM unit installed, and the only thing I am going to do to my system is replace the speakers and add an amp. I think that will be all the sound I need!

There should be room behind either seat however for a sub box.

There's plenty of room in the '04-'05 regular cabs. I'm building a custom box to fit 2 10" subs and a hinged box between for the amp and to store various other things I want to put in my truck out of sight.

if you can stand for one 12, ive built 2 boxes already that replace the center seat in the front.

Personal opinion but anything smaller than a 10 is a waste of time. Lots of people say a 12 wont go behind (and sound good) a reg. cab ranger seat but I have done it and I think I can do a pair of twelves in my STX.

I just built my own box with 2 image dynamics 8's in it. Box fits good behind passenger seat. Cant wait to get them installed. I dont like the deep thump, im more for the sq, hence the reason i got the 2 8's. Also a set of components wont hurt. I replace my fron 6x8's with a set of infinity components(reference series) and it sounds great. Im pushing the components with an alpine amp. Get some quality front components and you wont even need the rear 6x8's. Good luck

Good job, inbred, best 12 inch solution for the reg cab that I've seen yet.

here are some pics of mine, i just added the top hump this weekend, to get a little more volume in the box. you can also see the brackets i made to hold up the armrest. obviously what you see is not its finished form, but this way easier to see how it all went together

I bet I can use 2 8s that will more than likely blow away your 10s or 12s, and the bass will be crisper, cleaner, and deeper.
