Is my Airaid causing this???

So I installed my Airaid a few weeks back, and since then I have only done my normal commute where I never go over 35mph. The other day I was on the highway, cruising around 60-65. I go to give it gas to pass someone, and it sounds like the car is farting. If I let off the gas just a bit, it stops, or if I give it more gas it stops - its just right at that one point. I can even feel a slight vibration in the pedal. I think I read somewhere that someone had a similar issue with their AF1, and all they did was pull the filter out just a tad and the problem stopped.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

I have the slight drone like that with my Airaid too on the highway. Only happens at around the speeds you mentioned and while going up a slight incline. I don't know why and I don't really care either because I don't drive on highways that much. I never hear anything from it during local city driving.

when i first got my airraid it did the same thing, the sound is the air rushing into the intake and u can't do anything to stop it. All i did was added a new exhaust system and now i can't hear the airraid at all.

^I have an exhaust too. The intake noise is not the typical "air sucking" noise. I don't have the air sucking noise, even with my exhaust. It is a louder "drone" that only happens during the conditions I mentioned above, and it is definately from the intake and not my exhaust.

Yea, I am about 99% sure its from the intake. I can't even hear the "sucking" noise over my Magnaflow. But it does have that fart noise just under certain conditions. But I guess as long as I dont have any CELs then I am a happy camper. I am assuming, under those conditions there is just ALOT of air being pulled in and it causing something to vibrate....but I have only come across it two or three times and it doesnt really affect performance. I think its just an annoyance.

It is probably the intake. I've always had the drone, but at one point it seemed particularly loud. I double checked all of the fasteners, and found that the "L" bracket that is on the inside bend of the tube was a little loose. I tightened that up, and things are now quite a bit quieter.

I think the biggest problem with the AirAid is that the tube is plastic. I can't say for sure, but I think the noise is resonance from the air coming through the tube. (Think of blowing over the top of a pop bottle). I may be completely off base with this, but it seems to make sense to me. I can flex the tube with my hand, and if there is enough air to make it flex, it might be causing the drone.

Oh well, just kind of thinking out loud.

Backlash, some good thinking there. I agree with you....I think the air coming in is just at a high velocity and its making the plastic vibrate somewhere....no real performance issues, just a little extra noise.
