HID Retro Fit Cost Planning - See a way to cut cost?
HID Retro Fit Cost Planning - See a way to cut cost?
So here is the parts for an HID retrofit.
Bi-xeon projectors for performance and a way to retain the high beams. Harley Style Lights to help with fit and finish. Shroud will cover edge of projector to edge of reflector to cover the reflector. I will probably use a Land Rover shroud which is a deep dark grey and will be an interesting contrast agains the black...or I could go chrome...can't decide yet.
Anythoughts on how to cut cost?
HID Headlights:
Harley Style Headlamps $179.00
Audi RS6 Projectors, bulbs and ballasts $435.00
Shroud $30.00
Shipping $55.00
Total Mod Cost $699.00

Yeah. But the problem is the truck is my only vehicle to drive right now. The mod will probably take more than a solid day to modify the headlamps. Thus I don't think I can drive around with gaping holes in the front of the truck. If I kept my stock ones it'd save me a ton of money though ($200) and I could just paint them b/c I don't think the chrome would look right with HID projectors retrofitted in. I was trying to make it look like the bmw X5. I don't know what to do to cut cost on this mod.
Instead of buying the Harley lights, why dont you buy some used stock headlights on ebay, and then you can chop them up and do whatever you want to them. And if something happens where you mess them up, then you messed up a cheap set of used headlights as opposed to a brand new set of harley lights.
Ebay:
New Set:$185 w/ shipping
Used Set: $140 w/ shipping
Yeah the used set would be the way to go...but then I have to buy paint to paint them...so that'll be $30. So then I'm looking at $170...only a savings of $30...but better than nothing.
Probably my biggest cost savings would be to find a better deal on a set of RS6 or similiar 3 inch projectors, bulbs, and ballasts. Anybody know of a cheaper place than ebay? I only saw I set out there...maybe I'm not searching right.
