How to take apart door handles on F-150?
I'm trying to remove the door handle from the stock bucket on my 04 F-150. I figured out how to remove the stationary end by removing the pin but can't figure out how to remove the handle on the end that lifts up. I can't tell if there is a plastic pin that holds it in place or if the cyclinder the spring is attached to is one piece of molded plastic.
Anybody have any experience removing door handles on the buckets? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

The spring is a no-brainer and comes off easy... however, that $%*@( pin is the evil item holding the handle to the bucket. The pin is flared a little on the end and doesn't just pull out... if my huge manly arms couldn't pull it right out, I doubt yours can. Like Q said, I busted out my trusty butane torch lighter, heated that 'mo 'fo up (WITHOUT MELTING THE PLASTIC) and give 'er a good yank quickly. The heat makes the plastic plyable and the pin will come out.
Actually, I didn't really start to pull, I started to get the pin out by pushing with the pliers... one end on the pin, the other on a part of the handle and squeeze forcing the pin to start to come out so you can grab it on the other end and pull. It's takes patience...
Reverse to put the pin back in... heat up and jam it in! Good luck!

it sounds like they are referring to the wrong end.. you can take out the moving end by gently prying on the plastic tab that holds the handle in, there is a plastic pin going into that tab. just be careful not to break the tab, i broke one of mine and had to switch it out from my stock handle. good luck

Maybe someone better in the know will be along shortly.
