AUX input

so is there anything out for the aux input yet?? someone on here needs to make something and profit billions of dollars off of it... im sick of this ITrip, the quality sucks, and i always get other stations coming in.. i dont want to spend the money on a new head unit, and then have it sitting in the dash saying "steal me steal me". ive had one car stolen, that was plenty enough for me...

look to Ford

I talked with a few people - granted I am nobody special, just another customer - but the different companies I spoke with seemed "afraid" to touch it citing liability issues if they interfere with the CANBUS somehow. Now I only spoke with two mom and pop type shops, and they didn’t seem like they wanted to invest the time or money if Ford doesn’t “bless this project.”

Maybe a larger company like Blitzsafe would have the overhead to invest in R&D on this. I dont' expect it would take more than a head unit, a ford DVD player and a technician worth his salt to "reverse engineer" the interface. But what do I know - I don't work well with computers.

A few of the guys I work with (electric gurus with CANBUS experience) say they could probably work it out somehow – but the same conversation ensues… and the same answer every time... "I’ll would only make myself one, if someone was to get hurt off of it or their vehicle damaged, I don’t want to be liable. So for that reason I won't make you one."

Maybe they are just scared; maybe they are speaking the truth, maybe they are just blowing smoke up my... – I know nothing about this technology – I am just a simple mechanic...

Just my .02

It's nice to say that, but how do you know? Are you a PIE engineer or know one? They've been saying they'd have one for at least 6 months now, so why is August the "magic" month?

do the forum search, I am not trying to be a jerk - but there is just soo much good info on CANBUS and understanding how your truck uses this system to communicate and the AUX function.

I dont' know if this will work but I searched "CANBUS" for you, here is the link.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/se...searchid=51894

also search on yahoo or google or something and you will find many articles that does not apply to our trucks particularly, but it gives a picture and an overview of the basic technology.

And with in reply to the interface that is due out this August, I can only hope so and I will be first in line (well behind some of you I am sure) but if PIE is like everyone else they will push it out till next August, then it will slowly fade away.

I was at Car Toys the other day and they told me I can run my iPod through the AUX but I will do all controls on the iPod. They said the sound is much better. They want $240 to do it. I don't mean to hijack a thread just wondering if anyone has done this and how it works.

[QUOTE=KSN177]I was at Car Toys the other day...They want $240 to do it...QUOTE]

personally 30-50$ is worth it to me. For 240$ I'd tell them were to stick it. How about this you give me your 240$ and I'll sing to you - I'll ride with you everywhere you go... My wife says I sound like a seagull when I sing but I am sure she just needs her ears checked... she doesn't hear what I say anyway!

Honestly though. If they know how to do it, that is great. But I don't WANT to afford 240$ to find out. I'll wait to see what PIE comes up with.

I sure would like to use that button though...
