Another Shaker Install
When I was shopping for my truck I saw some on the lot with Shaker hoods laready installed also. They were conversion trucks though. I really want to say they were Roush but I'm not so sure. I looked at so many trucks everything has become a blur.
What all does this install involve and how difficult it is? and where do you get the parts? I saw those trucks on the lot with them and really would like to get one on my truck. lol

The Shaker is paintable. It is aluminum. The HARDEST part is geting the template lined up on the hood properly and then taking a SAW to your hood. Mine is off a little but not enough to buy another hood. Once the hole is cut, it would take 30 minutes to install. Not a bad install, other than the hole cutting business.
CDC says 6 rwhp (dyno verified). You cant measure the ram air effect on the dyno though. Like i said it a previous post, my belt squeals on shifting like i had the 93 octane setting but i only had the 87 octane setting on (whatever that means). I need to change my filter and see what happens. It certainly ought to help , the stock airbox is a POS!!

The AirForce1 and the Airaid have more "published" hp/torque gains. But after looking at the the Shaker air box, i dont know how. I will take pictures tonight of my airbox and the pathway to the filter. The only thing i can think of is the stock filter setup is the holdup. The other kits do away with it. I got the kit from here:

It really is a nice kit. It definitely has more wow appeal than the other cai, imho.
Dzervit, you could stripe your hood black or some matching color (tan?).

I was thinking of a new hood until Mike T. talked me out of a functional Ram Air/ Shaker hood. I stayed with the AF1. The main reason why...Apparently the faster you go the more lean you go with a ram/shaker setup. IMO not worth possible engine damage over the long run for 6hp as opposed to what the AF1 gives (that and no way I'm cutting the hood).
As to why the AF1 gives more hp? Not sure, but from what I can see you only replaced the tube portion of the intake, it looks like your shaker box plugs into the stock filter box (not sure what it's all called). I'd assume using the same slot that the stock tubing used. The AF1 and air raid replaces all of the components, giving the air a straight shot into the throttle body.
I do like the look though, so I'm gonna pick up a non functional Ram Air hood

Those look cool, but I doubt I have the nuts to go cutting holes in my hood or even let someone else do it
That's not even talking about the cost either. Got a wife that likes to talk about money all the time you know...hehe

I think I'll stick with painting the shaker to match.
