(I have size 14 feet and was wearing boots at the time)

I will talk to Mike tomorrow and see what is up, in the mean time I may just make sure the gas cap is on tight enough...
Good news, last night I moved the conical filter to the end of the intake tube, towards the fender inlet and tightened all clamps with a ratchet. Took the sucker out on my back road and romped @ WOT for a while. Then, tonight, I pile the kids in for a trip to the beach, and viola, no CEL.

Now, I'm not sure the CEL is really gone for good and I must share with all, the quality on the AF1 is really underwelming. Another forum member mentioned using a pipe expander to flare the intake tube and move the filter to very end of the intake tube; well guess what? He should not have to do this, just like I and others should not have to grind the MAS socket to fit the stock mass airflow sensor in the tube.

I think there has been an increase in mileage since installing the AF1, though, the performance increase is not yet tangible. As I mentioned earlier, I plan to install a Magnaflow and a chip programmer. From what I've read on this forum, at that point the truck should be leaving a stretch... I'd setltle for a chirp or two.

I'll keep you all posted...

When I installed my Airforce One I noticed a significant performance gain but I already had a Magnaflow and an Xcal so the intake was the missing piece of the puzzle for me.

Im taking my truck in tmrw to my mechanic again. Yesterday i went down there and he tryed to hook up the diagnostic computer and for some reason it kept failing to connect. Why would it do that?? so im taking it back monday to see if he cant figure it out. The light wont go away the truck is still running great but after about 150 miles or so im ready to get this check engine soon b.s done.
If anybody has any ideas why the computer failed to connect id like to hear them. Thanks.

sigh....I am having similar CEL issues as are described on this thread. I decided to do a bit of a test. When AF1 first installed I got the CEL almost immediately. Realigned everything and further tightened everything with a rathcet and it went away.
Then I disconnected the battery to reset PCM (before i had read all the business on this forum). Went about 10 miles then got the CEL. Talked with Troyer & AF1 and used the 1714 to just reset the codes. Sure enough the CEL popped on much less frequently after then next 10 drives, but it still seemed that a WOT could almost guarantee it.
Finally the CEL quit coming up AND the codes themselves trickled away over time.

Now, I decided to disco the battery again, just to see what happens. Sure enough, new CEL and the truck ran and idled poorly for the first few minutes, but is now regaining it's composure. It has now been about 1 week since I dosconnected the battery and the exact same pattern is occuring. 1st CEL came on during first trip to the store...reset. 2nd CEL during send 70 mile round trip to work. Third CEL came on after 4 more trips to work and several runs around town. Each time except this last time I got the P171, P174 and P1000 codes with the CEL. This last time I get NO P1000 code.

This is almost exactly the pattern I observed when I first installed the AF1 about 1 month ago.

Does the CEL only occur at WOT?

If so, this is a very interesting pattern as my last CEL occurred @ WOT too. After the CEL was extinguished, it hasn't popped up since and I've had a few hard runs and no CEL.

I can tell you that my prior CELs just popped on without WOT runs. Tightening the connections seems to have helped, but I'm just not too confident the CEL is really gone.

Should the CEL happen once more, I will pull the AF1 off and send it back, rethinking the CAI situation until the bugs are worked out.

are you looking for more off the line power or overall power? . I do knoe those 3.55 gears are not the best for off the line power. for better off the line power I recomend getting a 4:10 or higher rear gears. other things thas can help are electric fans or underdrive pully's. as for more power form the XCAL2 I can't help you there you should be talking to mike troyer on that. or posting in the chips section of the forum. mike answers questions on there sometimes.

no, not ONLY at WOT. But it does seem that WOT would virtually guarantee it, at least for the first several drives after battery disco. Then twice now I have gotten enough drives and code resets (again, going longer and longer in between) that I pretty much thought CEL was gone. THEN I went WOT a few times and no CEL. Went WOT again and now it is back.

I dunno, truck is running very well now so I will monitor a little more and report later, probably after this week.
