Any info on Skyjacker 3" lift for 2wd

I think I have finally made my decision. Has anyone had problems with this kit? Where can it be purchased? Can a 1.5" leveling kit be used with it because all the pictures I have seen still has the rear higher than the front?

What pics have you seen and where? I have an '04 4x4 and was looking into this kit for a lift, but can't get any info on it. I've been to their website, called skyjacker, and asked around about it and everyone gives a different story about it every time. There may be 1 guy on here that has the lift, but I don't know who it is. I have heard from some that there are some kind of problems with it, but nobody ever said what the problem is or how extensive it is or what caused it. I'm sure you could do the leveling kit because the front end of this kit is just new coilovers that are bigger than factory. I know one installer at a shop told me that anything 3" or more that is not a true suspension lift would cause wear and damage to the control arms on these trucks, but I don't think this guy was very familiar with this lift, he couldn't even give me a price on it. I've seen it for around $600, what have you seen it for?

Anyway, I posted a thread on this that was still going up through yesterday I think, but nobody has posted anything at all that is helpful about this lift. I just don't think anyone knows, so if you find out any useful info any time, please post it on here. Thanks.

I've seen someone on here with it, its a single cab silver 2004 F-150 and I agree it looks a little nose heavy.

I've seen the kit online for $650 shipped with rear shocks.

Yeah thumper, I think you and I saw it on the same thread, but not much was said about it. I am not sure about who it was or how good the kit is/any problems with it.

I have seen 3 people with this lift. One made reference to www.rockymountainsusp.com where I found it for $579. The problems that were mention were all fixed and were due to alignment and wrong install. They looked very nice once install and were perfect for my application. I was just looking for additional info since I could not find more than what I have posted.

Same here medik13, I'd like to have some more info before making that decision too. If there are problems with the lift, it will likely take more than 3 people to find that out. I really like the lift, just not sure if there will be control arm problems or not, and not sure how bigger coilovers will affect the ride quality. I know the add a leaf in the rear will stiffen it up.

I just had one installed on my FX4. The ride quality is the same as stock on smooth roads, and a little stiffer on rough pavement. Before the install
I had a rev tech leveling kit in, the skyjacker kit looks better imo. I ordered the kit from summit racing along with a set of nitro shocks for $656.00 shipped. Another plus was after the install I did'nt have the slight rub that a had with the level kit and 320x60x18, mounted on mb express 18x9 wheels at full lock. I'll post some pictures after I figure out how to do it, any help would be appreciated.

hi rider,

Where does the kit feel stiffer on rough pavement, in the rear where the add a leafs are? How much did the kit raise your rear up? Any difference in the ride up front since you have new bigger coilovers?

My '04 4x4 bounces when I hit a bump on the road or something, like going over a bridge. When it hits the uneven pavement, the whole truck bounces like it is sitting on a big spring, almost like it would feel if the shocks are worn out or something. Never have understood that.

The kit feels stiffer in the front on rough pavement and going over bumps. Like you, I thought the rear would feel stiffer with the add a leaf, and I guess it does but not by much over stock. The rear was lifted about 1-1.5 inchs in the rear, although I did'nt measure after the install. On a scale of 1-10 the ride would be 0 difference on smooth pavement, and 2-3 on rough pavement and bumps. My wife really could'nt tell the difference in the ride quality, and she does drive the truck at times.

In light of the difference on rough pavement or bumps, do you think the ride quality is better now on rougher terrain?

I haven't taken it off road, so I really could'nt say how the ride would be. When I do, hopefully in the near future, I'll get back to you and let you know. But so far I'm pleased with this kit and I've also gotten a few compliments on the way the truck looks.
