Question Cams?? Pistons heads? etc???

Was just wondering what kind of a cam the 04 f150 5.4L has in it when its stock?? and what lift?

Performance wise whats the best cam that i can put in giving me maximum performance and still keeping the truck as a daily driver??? Any help is appreciated! Does swithing the cam help performance wise? If so how?

Bare with me guys! Im pretty new here and this is gonna be my first car to mod! So just bare with me! Im thinkin of moddin the truck cause i know its got more in it!!! I just know it! Its too freakin slow to be true!

Plus.... Anyone have any other suggestions to mods besides the airintake, tuning, exhaust, and headers???? I need something that will get this thing moving!!! and at the same time keep it as a daily driver...

Oh! I really font want to supercharge or turbo this thing either or play with the rears... Just the basic stuff that can be done to the cam, pistion heads...etc... Basic stuff!!! Thanks!!!!

cam , heads , pistons are not basic ..

if you want speed or power ,, get a lightning or at least a Harley .
I just traded in my WS6 for my truck (family needed more room) and there is nothing that is going to help you go fast .. supercharge it and you will still get dusted by most sports cars out there.

you have a great truck for towing , work and some fun.. Just don't expect to be at the dragstrips.

This will fill the bill and Troyer Performance is the best! Mike's the tune maestro

Stage 3 Performance Package for 2004 and 2005 Ford F-150's with the 300 HP 3-valve 5.4 V8 engine - all body styles, including all SuperCab & SuperCrew models, Lariat, FX4, short cabs, etc.

This package starts off with our famous Troyer Performance custom tuning, featuring 3 different custom-tuned performance programs for your vehicle's PCM (Powertrain Control Module) provided in a convenient & reversible hand-held flash device with full email update and high-speed data logging capabilities! Then comes a complete replacement of the air intake tract system, and a brand new complete replacement T304 aircraft-grade stainless steel cat-back exhaust system. Next comes our set of underdrive pulleys, and our complete Troyer Performance Dual 16" electric fan kit, using the very best available components. Then to take this package even further, we include a set of bolt-on and Jet-Hot ceramic coated Stainless Steel headers, including our locking header bolts. Designed to bolt on directly in place of your stock factory exhaust manifolds, no cutting or welding! Next comes our ignition system upgrade, to increase the output of the factory coil packs & thus insure maximum combustion at these higher power levels & cylinder pressures, especially when the humidity rises! Last, we also take into consideration the braking system of these vehicles - when you add significant power, you absolutely MUST insure sufficient braking power, and we've seen to that as well with this upgrade that is easily capable of supporting things such as much bigger wheels & tires, and massive additional power gains such as our Stage 4 Supercharger-based Performance Package! We include our special massive 3-piston quick-change aluminum caliper upgrade kit that includes high-performance brake pads, and will easily bolt right up to your stock F-150 spindles and does NOT require larger-than-stock wheels to fit as most serious brake upgrades require.

Start reading the Chips and Programming forum on this site. Pay close attention to anything Superchips Distributor posts which is all through the forum. Do not forget to use the search feature.....

You can also see my latest post on the Troyer Performance Stage 2 kit at :

With the 3V heads and variable cam timing, you don't need a lot of cam for these engines to run. I can't access the service manuals at home for some reason, but they don't spec out at much, like .350-.400".

Hey Screw,

Thanks for the compliments.

Anyway, these trucks CAN be fast. Supercharged 04 Supercrew Lariat 2WD with a Whipple supercharger ran a 14.2 with wheel spin. Called Whipple and the guys told me it has since ran a 13.85on good launch. No other mods except the charger.

A RCSB 2WD model can hit 12's on a boosted motor. 13's on an full bolt on NA motor.

I am still not full bolt on....(headers, gears, no cats can still be installed) and my best is a 14.15 on street tires with spin on a 2.02 60ft. 13's with drag radials EASY !!!

So, look around here and there are lots of mods to get you going.
